Newt's Contagious Swagger
Texas GOP Vote ^ | January 21, 2012 | Artemio Muniz

Posted on 01/21/2012 5:22:41 PM PST by 2ndDivisionVet

Newt Gingrich now has that intangible that unfortunately our Republicans have been missing, except for Sarah Palin. It is called swagger. I am talking about the Contract with America creating, welfare reforming, budget balancing, race card killing, CNN bashing, Obama debate challenging swagger. More than confidence, it's pure belief and trust in his own ability to carry out the conservative cause while winning hearts and minds. Public arena winning, back room brawling, media manhandling, Newt is a seasoned, battle tested statesman who has finally found his rhythm.

It is very contagious to witness a confident conservative who can articulate our principles without apologizing and in the modern context. He can weave a verbal tapestry of past historical anchors with time tested truths from our founding fathers and tie them in with sometimes simple, real talk statements that resonate with all. I believe South Carolinians will admit to the entire nation on Saturday that they are feeling the ripple effect of a conservative message that transcends culture and race. If South Carolina says yes to Newt, Florida almost certainly will embrace this new confident message of idea driven conservatism. Obama has built his house of cards on race and class division, and Newt is the only conservative that can maneuver around these traps. Last Sunday, Newt stood in front of a predominantly African American church and eloquently laid out the conservative policy ideas that would benefit all Americans regardless of race. When was the last time you heard of any Republican figure sharing his heart with an African American church and proudly explain his ideas on how to help all Americans? That's swagger.

If there is one thing Texans admire, it is someone who is confident and willing to take on huge challenges. There is no doubt in my mind Newt Gingrich is the only conservative with the swagger needed to overcome a democratic opponent who is charismatic, billion dollar funded, and media protected. It is no longer enough for conservatives to only criticize and angrily point out the failures of our opposition. Americans are ready to embrace a center right, idea driven conservatism that is bold and a problem-solver. Newt knows he is the man to make it happen. This new found confidence is contagious to all conservatives who have been anxiously waiting to send a powerful message on election day.

I'm not going goo goo over Newt anytime soon.

He's far better than Romney, and that's the best I can hope for at this point.

I'll definitely vote for him, but with a good deal of skepticism.

I have always adored your tagline. Can’t wait to change mine back to pre-primary.

Then vote for the zero. You are also repeating lies about Newt. Sounds like you get your news from the alphabet stations, or are a DEM plant on here.

Gosh, I sure hope you have never done anything in your life which needs God’s forgiveness. However, if you have, may he withhold that forgiveness from you since you are so self-righteous.

In all due respect, why should I do the research to find information that you claim supports your position? If you have the info I need, why don't you provide it to me? My research in the past shows that Newt dumped two wives for something 'better' - why should I vote to put in the marriage buster who is a young, thin, blonde? Can't the males in our population see that this might be a problem with women voters? I'm just sayin'.

My goodness, what an angry post. I never said I am not in need of God's forgiveness. We all are. I'm just standing on my position that I won't vote in as First Lady the woman who contributed to Newt's marriage busting up. I am not a Dem plant, either. I'm simply not voting for Newt and his trophy wife. That doesn't mean I want to vote for Romney, either. I just wish Bobby Jindahl or some other good conservative candidate will get into this race. PLEASE!!!

Newt apparently didn't do right financially by his second wife or she wouldn't have spilled her guts to the media recently, claiming he asked for an open marriage so he could share time with the woman who became wife number three. I certainly fault a man for his stupidity if he doesn't pay wife number two enough to shut her mouth. That's my position and I'm standing on it.

In other words, dear Jesus please send us a decent candidate will you please?

David had a man killed so he could steal his wife. Yet he is considered the greatest human king who ever lived and Our Lord came for The House of David. Of course, he didn’t have to worry about female voters, did he? Almost every French ruler since the fall of Rome has had at least one mistress. You do know that Gov. Romney’s father was born in Mexico because his ancestors fled there to practice polygamy, right? Want me to keep going?

Why play into this? “Swagger” and “smirk” are codewords for overconfidence or arrogance, which aren’t really good things. A lot of Democrat politicians swagger or smirk, but you don’t hear about it from the media. Whatever his other bad qualities, I don’t see much swaggering yet in Newt, and it would be foolish to put out the idea that he does, to create a negative image for a candidate by foolishly trying to pretend that it’s really a positive one.

Bobby Jindal isn’t going to run. He’s quite happy being governor of Louisiana. As far as Newt’s wife = unless she is a Deomocrat - she has no power or authority. I don’t care if Newt has been married 15 times, (well, maybe that’s an exaggeration) because right now we need someone with the fire in the belly to stop this country from going under. Mitt doesn’t have it, nor does Santorum. Ron Paul is a joke for the most part. Newt shoots from the hip sometimes, but, by gosh - he is smart and a fighter - not some wishy-washy, Mr. Rogers type who doesn’t stand chance in this year’s political climate. It is rough and tumble out there, and so much more with a dictator wannabe occupying our White House.

Newt didn’t ask for an “open marriage.” An open marriage is where both parties are free to see whomever they wish and with as many different partners as they wish. You are spewing MSM talking points. His ex-wife is bitter, and you seem to put all the blame on Newt. Sounds like she was a shrew to live with. Not all women are innocent when marriages fail.
