Newt Gingrich has won the South Carolina primary. And just hours before ABC aired its interview with Newt’s ex-wife, Marianne Gingrich, former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin appeared on Sean Hannity’s radio show. Gov. Palin predicted that the tabloid-style interview would only cause Speaker Gingrich’s ratings to soar.
Mocking the mainstream media, Gov. Palin said, “I call them dumbarses.”

Gov. Palin continued:
They, thinking that by trotting out this old Gingrich divorce interview that’s old news — and it does feature a disgruntled ex, claiming that it would destroy his campaign — all this does, Sean, is incentivize conservatives and independents who are so sick of the politics of personal destruction, because it’s played so selectively by the media, that their target, in this case Newt, he’s now going to soar even more. Because we know the game now, and we just won’t put up with it. Good call, media.
Good call, Sarah Palin. Debate after debate, it has been Newt Gingrich who has hammered the MSM on its preferential treatment of Barack Obama and his liberal agenda. And many conservatives across America are eating it up.
Starved for passionate expression of how the political and social dictates of the Obama “regime,” and its closely allied Media, have attempted to oppress and ridicule American voters with conservative leanings, Newt has let everyone know that the battle is on. He has articulated conservative ideas like no other candidate, though the other candidates may embrace those ideas themselves.
Those who actually get caught up in the rehash of Newt’s past marriages are missing the point. When it comes to moral character, American voters can either believe what the former speaker has said, about his call to forgiveness and reconciliation–or not. They can either heed Gov. Rick Perry’s endorsement statement, that admits to Newt’s imperfections, while it also points to the power of redemption–or not.
For three years, Americans have been faced, on almost a daily basis, with an overreaching president who has beaten them down. He has wagged his authoritative finger at them, on almost a daily basis, chiding them for seeking prosperity, scolding them for their intrinsic belief in the freedom of the individual, and filled with angry reproach when they speak of America’s exceptionalism. This president has apologized to leaders of other nations- some of them America’s enemies- for what he considers to be America’s greedy excesses and overly inflated pride.
Americans are looking for someone on their side–an advocate, if you will–someone who can lead the charge against those who would wish to destroy those ideals and ideas that made America great. No doubt, like the rest of us, Newt Gingrich is far from perfect. But his passion for those American values, and his unmatched ability to articulate them, has captured the hearts and spirits of many conservative Americans.
The commie ‘RATS and their toadies in the state controlled “media” can trash, smear and bash Sarah Palin all day long. She isn’t going away and will continue to play a major role in this country’s future.
She’s right yet again.
No, not a mild "tsk, tsk" like when a child uses the wrong fork at dinner, but a strong response like when you touch a live electrical wire.
I like how she got her message across via the hypothetical “If I lived in SC...” without letting the spotlight be shifted to herself, and away from the candidate. She’s been on the other end long enough that she’s got a good instinct for how they will react, and the last thing we needed was some kind of stupid “Palin lays down rifle long enough to endorse Gingrich” kind of tabloid nonsense headlines.
Though Joe Scarborough didn’t as much come out and say it, I suspect that the real force behind the conservative powerhouses calling for a brokered convention is Sarah Palin.
And this is the very best thing that can happen, as far as conservatives are concerned.
Just as a guess, I think Newt is smart enough to play along and be the spoiler, derailing Romney enough so there is an open convention, a real convention. He knows he won’t be president, but all conservatives will owe him a huge favor if by his actions, a real conservative becomes the nominee.
Again, just guessing, I think that Newt felt betrayed by the RINOs, who spoiled the brilliant opportunity he had given the Republicans by stalemating any chance for desperately needed conservative reforms. Instead they showed their true colors as being just as bad or worse than the Democrats.
In any event, there will be 2,286 delegates to the convention, in which 1,144 will be needed to win the nomination. Though they are committed to a candidate on the first vote, if there is no winner, then all of them become free agents.
And those delegates are overwhelmingly conservative. Maybe 60% or more.
At that point, literally *anyone* can have their name put into nomination. And almost *anyone* who gets it will have to be a serious conservative enough to persuade 1,144 (or more) conservatives that they should be the nominee. Any liberal or moderate faction can neither name a candidate with any chance, or block conservatives from naming a conservative.
Of course, Palin might be chosen, but there are some who doubt her. However, if she endorses a candidate, they will be a slam dunk winner.
Someone who wins at the convention, fair and square, as a conservative, will be hugely popular among Republicans across the country. They will have minimal baggage going into the general election, and the same conservative powerhouses will be able to endorse them without reservation.
Voters are opening thier eyes on the real kingmakers and destroyers of this country, and are ready to pull the media's fangs.
She NAILED it. Her carefully-worded endorsement was also a HUGE factor in Newt’s win.
From your lips to God’s ears. Not sure Newt’s read for falling on his sword, but who knows? If he’s truly “converted,” maybe he will.

Obscurity. It would have been much better to just keep quiet.
No falling on his sword needed. All he has to do is stay in until after the first ballot, and by then it will also be obvious that while he does have enough support to block Romney, he doesn’t have enough for the nomination.
Yet, if his supporters are willing, he can ask them to support the eventual conservative, which would mean just the liberals and moderates small minority would be out in the cold.
This woman’s political instincts never cease to amaze me.
