Hispanic Leaders Weigh In On GOP Candidates At Doral Conference (Loudest cheers for Newt!)

DORAL – At the Hispanic Leadership Conference in Doral, a group watched closely as the Republican candidates battled it on stage at the debate in Jacksonville.

While the group doesn’t seem to endorse any one candidate, the cheering was considerably louder when Newt Gingrich walked onto the stage.

Before the debate, Former Florida governor Jeb Bush spoke to the crowd, and we asked him why he wasn’t willing to endorse a candidate.

“I think first of all, candidates need to earn it. Not that my endorsement would be the end-all-be-all, but I think it’s appropriate for them to work hard and earn the support. They’ll learn a lot by being down here, as they already have,” said Gov. Bush.

Meanwhile, Republican Congresswoman Ileana Ros-Lehtinen talked about what she called misconceptions about Hispanic voters.

“Yes, immigration is an important topic, no doubt. But we care about the family structure, and we care about small business, and we care about jobs,” said Ros-Lehtinen.

Gov. Bush said Hispanics in Florida are always in search of success.

“And they do it in a way that makes Miami perhaps the most dynamic city in the United States. I’ve seen when you embrace diversity, and you embrace dynamism what happens,” said Gov. Bush.

But can the candidates convince Hispanic voters that they understand them?

“I think they need to show that they connect with the street, that they get it, that they have chemistry, and that they can beat Barack Obama, that they can brawl, that they can fight, that they have passion, that they have energy, that they can energize the base, and at the same time, hold Obama’s feet to the fire,” said Republican Strategist Ana Navarro.

On Friday, front runners Newt Gingrich and Mitt Romney will both speak at the conference.

Hopefully that's a glimpse of how they'll vote next week.

Amen to that!

Sound like she's talking about Newt to me!

And I'll bet few in the crowd can connect with Willard, unless of course they have off shore accounts in the seven figure range.

I certainly pray the Hispanics go for Newt and I believe they will, based on the robot Romney. I also hope the TEA PARTY is aware of the battalion of RINOS unleashed to follow Newt around to every stump speech to refute anything he says of Romney! Outrageous. This on top of the media blitz against him.

Santorum is the smirk that works for Romney, so it is quite impossible for me to appreciate him. Florida is the line in the sand between Newt or Romney and the nomination.

I guess Blizter is to be thanked for bringing to light the attack ad against Gingrich that Romney denied was his, was in fact HIS!!

Too bad that Gingrich didn’t call on Rubio to ask Romney to remove the ad from the radio ariwaves.

Santorum attacked Gingrich repeatedly in the debate. He simply doesn’t realize that Gingrich took the punches from Romney leaving him unscathed and getting the Iowan votes that would have been for Gingrich. The Iowa win got to his head. He is dlusional that he will defeat Romney and Gingrich. Or he is in it to get famous, perhaps to be a FOX news host?

Unfortunately that’s because Newt would provide close to open amnesty for all illegals.

It would be nice of the establishment could be denied their "inevitable" nominee just a little longer but I expect FL will go for Romney.

With almost no debates in Feb and Romney friendly states ahead, opposition against him will crumble by Super Tuesday.

It's a win for the non-Romney in FL or just about over.
