Sarah Palin: Newt Gingrich's secret weapon
The Politico ^ | January 27, 2012 | Ginger Gibson

Posted on 01/27/2012 5:45:21 PM PST by 2ndDivisionVet

Newt Gingrich has a new unofficial campaign surrogate and her name is Sarah Palin.

As the 2008 veep nominee sees it, Gingrich is getting a raw deal from the national media and conservative elite, the very same forces who conspired against her when she was on the national ticket. Palin hasn’t endorsed Gingrich — and has no official role in his campaign — but she is repeatedly surfacing at just the right times on the national airwaves to vociferously defend him.

In her latest appearance, Palin stated: “Look at Newt Gingrich, what’s going on with him via the establishment’s attacks,” she said, though the original question was about Ron Paul. “They’re trying to crucify this man and rewrite history and rewrite what it is that he has stood for all these years.”

Palin then called conservative writer Peggy Noonan “hypocritical” for recently calling Gingrich an “angry little attack muffin.”

“They maybe subscribe such characterization of Newt via words like that, but they don’t subscribe those to say Mitt Romney when he or his surrogates do the same thing,” she said. “That’s that typical hypocrisy stuff in the media that I’ve lived with over a couple of decades in the political arena. So I’m used to it.”

“But in order to help educate the rest of the American public, I’ll articulate that it is hypocritical of the media to subscribe to one candidate and not another, that kind of angry attack muffin verbiage to one and not the other.”

Though she declined to run for president in 2012, Palin still has a devoted following among tea party conservatives....

Sarah Palin: Newt Gingrich's secret weapon

Well with reports of Romney now having regained the lead over Gingrich in FL, I hope she becomes not so secret a weapon and goes all out between now and Tuesday.

I’m not sure she appeals to a different group of voters than Gingrich does. Maybe she peels off some of the Santorum vote?

Sarah is right as usual.

What I saw lastnight was a dusgrace, and for the establishment elite to totally ignore the fact that Blitzer set Romney up to continuously attack Newt shows me they are no better than slimeball libs.

Lastnight was a complete farce. Romney was way to prepared. How strange that he never knows what his advisors are doing (Bain bonds), and he doesn’t know about the attack ads (seems strange because his answers defending the ads show he’s a liar). Romney repeats verbatim the attack ads and continues to tell the lie no matter what proof Gingrich releases.

I believe the debate lastnight DID NOT do Romney the good the media is trying to make us believe. I know what I heard and saw and I certainly do not need the talking heads to tell me not to believe my eyes and ears.

Romney is RINO scum. Sarah was once where Newt is. GO SARAH!!

It would be great if Sarah goes down to Florida to campaign for Newt. Sarah Palin knows how to campaign.

That said, I don't think she will go down there without an invitation from Newt. Not sure if Newt will request this of her.

Oh yeah, she draws from the only vote for conservative conservatives not just the lesser of two evil conservatives.

Palin and the rest of us have to succumb to reality and make decisions based on what is on the table as far as the candidates we are left with.

Santorum was my preference up until the South Carolina primary, and now I realize that, he’s just not that appealing to the majority of republicans, and so, we have a choice between Gingrich and Romney.

So, Sarah and the conservatives have only one choice, and sitting on the fence hoping for the best is not a plan.

Romney is the governor who gave the country a model for nationalized healthcare, that model being “Romneycare” in Massachussets. We don’t want to take a chance that he could end up as president, and all that would happen then is to leave Obamacare in place, or with minor tweaks. We need to have someone in there with the promise to repeal that Obamacare monstrosity, and even if Romney has stated he’ll do so, his liberal qualities cannot be trusted, and I’m skeptical that he would repeal Obamacare.

So, we’re left with Gingrich, and, though not the best possible candidate we could have hoped for, he’s the only one left that can bring us some hope for some conservatism in the White House.

So, Sarah needs to get off the fence and fully endorse Gingrich before Romney gets any momentum and becomes “our” candidate in the fall.

Listen carefully everyone......Mitt Romney has been setting up a Victory in Florida since 2007 and has just recently spent up to 10 million in local ads. If he wins Florida it will be a very small victory and will be ahead of Gingrich by only 30 delegates. BIG WHOOP! The media will play it up as a massive win and Romney is now the undeniable candidate. It’s all BULL-SHIITE!! Gingrich can easily make it up in another state. Don’t fall for the media baloney!

The hypocritical elites in the Republican establishment despise conservatives and the Tea Party more than they despise the liberals and Democrats.
The RINO’s in the mainstream media have never attacked Obama they way they do Gingrich now.

The Biased news is not something you get use to. You fight it like any other weapon used to weaken America. Brian Williams wasted important minutes with fuzz ball questions to the candidates. Santorum made that point....keep the personal politics out of the 'debates' and it seemed for a second Paul, Gingrich, and Romney would behave and get into more important issues...the 'truce' lasted several seconds..........Blitzer asked the Miss America questions, another utter waste of time. I want to know what they know or understand about our energy; military:our borders: subsidies that are no longer needed. :Rather to the point, the Moderators as long and convoluted questions....maybe just to hear them selves talk.....

But in order to help educate the rest of the American public

So she's going to "educate" everyone, being so smart and all?

“They maybe subscribe such characterization of Newt via words like that, but they don’t subscribe those to say Mitt Romney when he or his surrogates do the same thing,”

The word you're looking for, Our Sarah, is ascribe.

as·cribe

verb (used with object), -cribed, -crib·ing.
1.
to credit or assign, as to a cause or source; attribute;
impute: The alphabet is usually ascribed to the Phoenicians.

2. to attribute or think of as belonging, as a quality or
characteristic: They ascribed courage to me for something I did out of sheer panic.

You are being juvenile. Did you know that Lincoln’s words during the debates with Douglass had to be heavily edited by Greeley’s editors, because they were not quite what he MUST have meant to say. Still he did ok, because the ears of his audience were not as unreceptive as yours.

When she says: "But in order to help educate the rest of the American public, I’ll articulate that..."
she's setting herself up as brighter or better educated than the rest of us poor slobs in the country.

That displays her arrogance. After making such an arrogant statement she would be wise to at least use the correct words to make her point.

About politics, about politics. Not grammar. Simple fact is that however conservative Gringrich may be, Romney is not. Gringrich is ridiculed about the space program. Reagan was treated the same way when he talked about SDI. Romney belongs to the GHW Bush branch of the party which has always had a seat at the table for Planned Parenthood. Bush was never sincere about his conversion to the pro-life position, a fact he made clear by sending out the women to tell us what he really believed, whether it was Barbara or Laura of the girls. Ditto gay marriage. As for Obama care, whatever he says, he will never do more than trim it.
