Jack Joogendyk is a conservative’s conservative who is supported by the TEA Party. Fred Upton is RINO Establishment hack. I hope that Michigan conservatives come through here.

The primary is August 7.

I'm thinking of starting a Michigan Capitol Confidential ping list. If anyone is interested, let me know.

I’ve met Jack a couple of times. He seems like a good guy.

Glad to hear this news. The only thing Fred Upton has going for him is an incredibly attractive niece.

Somebody’s gonna try to take out Rhino Freddie? Awesome!

Back in 2002 I volunteered for the Dale Sugars campaign. We got shellacked—I think the final tally was 70 for Upton, 30 for Sugars—but it was worth it to try to unseat one of Congress’ biggest rhinos. Sugars was and is a good man, but we got outspent 1,000,000 to 100,000. Hope this challenger has good funding and a professional staff. Underfunded and inexperienced, we got killed. Has Freddie trotted out his hunting jacket and shotgun in ads yet? That’s what he did 10 years ago.

I’ll contribute as soon as I get paid—my current Congressman, Rep. Culberson, doesn’t need the money. Already contributed to Ted Cruz—he looks like a good bet to replace Kay Bailey Hutchison in the Senate. Whatever happens at the Presidential level, let’s make elective bodies from local school board to Federal Congress more like the Tea Party! Rebellion is brewing and don’t let our reps forget it!
