Sen. Lugar’s GOP foe slams energy group affiliations

Richard Mourdock, who is Sen. Richard Lugar’s (R-Ind.) Tea Party-backed GOP primary foe, is calling on the incumbent to renounce his affiliation with two groups that support legislation to cap greenhouse gas emissions.

Mourdock, the state treasurer, wants Lugar to resign from his advisory positions with the Alliance to Save Energy and the Brookings Institution’s Energy Security Initiative. __________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

The Alliance to Save Energy, which advocates for energy efficiency, backed legislation the House approved in 2009 that included a cap-and-trade system and several green energy and efficiency provisions. The group also supported Senate efforts to pass climate legislation that collapsed in 2010.

More evidence that Richard Lugar is not a conservative and not a real Hoosier. Indiana Republicans have an obligation to vote him out.

While we are at it, Senator Hatch should join Lugar in retirement.

Mourdock has my full support. I was encouraged by the stands he has been taking and even more impressed by his character after meeting him.
