Republican Senate-turned-congressional hopeful Adam Hasner has landed the endorsement of former Gov. Jeb Bush.
The Bush endorsement could come in handy if Broward County Commissioner Chip LaMarca or some other Republican gets a notion to challenge Hasner in the primary.
Hasner, the Boca Raton resident who was state House majority leader before he was term-limited in 2010, is running in Palm Beach-Broward congressional District 22. The seat is now held by U.S. Rep. Allen West, R-Plantation, who bolted to new District 18 when District 22 was redrawn with a Democratic tilt. West is also backing Hasner.
Says Bush in a statement released by Hasner’s campaign: “I am proud to endorse my friend Adam Hasner for the U.S. House of Representatives in District 22. Adam has a passion for reform and for common-sense conservative solutions, and he will take that passion to a Washington that is certainly in need of both.
“The challenges America faces grow each and every day, and we need representatives that share Adam’s commitment to principle, his dedication to government accountability and his proven record in working for his community.
“Adam served Palm Beach and Broward counties with distinction in the state legislature, and I know he will continue to do so in the U.S. House.”

Adam Hasner is a great candidate in a difficult district. If he wins, keep an eye on him, he’s that good.
I am glad West found a new district, and hope he can hold it.
Have we heard from his Jebness concerning Obama’s unconstitutional act concerning illegal aliens today? That a subject about which Jeb loves to talk down to the great unwashed.

The primary is August 14. Hasner is unopposed for the Republican nomination.

The likely Democrat nominee West Palm Beach Mayor Lois Frankel, a former state Representative. She has primary opposition from Broward County Commissioner Kristen Jacobs.
Good enough—we’ve heard from Jeb’s puppet Marco Rubio, who essentially said that Obama’s action didn’t go far enough. (To which RINOmney agreed.)
If Jeb Bush endorsed him, I probably wouldn’t vote for him.
I hope you don't live in Florida then cause Jeb Bush endorses every Republican nominee for everything (there is no primary for this race) in Florida.

And the fact that Hasner is running unopposed in the Republican primary is no excuse: if Jeb was a real Republican he would have endorsed the candidate of the Manatee-Eating Party or something (although in that case you would have to oppose the Manatee-Eating Party candidate, since he would have Jeb’s endorsement). To be on the safe side, conservatives should support liberal Democrats in every district in which Jeb Bush has endorsed the Republican. Thank you, nickcarraway, for showing us how to elect conservatives to office: vote for the liberal Democrat over the conservative Republican if the conservative has Jeb’s endorsement. Brilliant!
Oh, please, you know I said no such thing. How was I supposed to know there was no primary opponent. (It’s sad that there isn’t.) I don’t know how you expect to win anything, when you attack everyone who doesn’t meet your purity test.

I look at the totality of the circumstances, and will support the candidate who hits the “sweet spot” for conservatism and electability. Having read about Adam Hasner, I think that he’s the most conservative Republican possible who would have a cshot of winning that new Dem-leaning CD in Broward and Palm Beach Counties—he is well known to the area’s voters, has represented many of them before, and the fact that he’s Jewish certainly won’t hurt him.
BTW, I agree with you that, as a general rule, it’s sad when there’s a district with a single Republican running, since primary voters deserve a choice. But sometimes it is so obvious that a particular candidate has the support of the majority of Republicans in the district that no one else will run—that more often happens in the context of an incumbent seeking reelection, but in extraordinary cases such as the redrawn FL-22, Hasner was the obvious choice even though he isn’t the incumbent. Remember, after the legislature was forced to ungerrymander the FL-22 due to that stupid “fair districts” constitutional amendment, it became apparent that Congressman Allen West couldn’t win there and he ran in the district just to the north (which included some of his old CD), and Adam Hasner switched from the U.S. Senate race (where he wasn’t getting any traction) to the FL-22 race at the request of state and national Republicans and conservatives who knew that only Jewish Republican with deep ties to the district could possibly win there.
