Jon Kyl warns Obama: ‘Impeachment is always a possibility’
The Capitol Column ^ | June 26, 2012

Arizona Senator Jon Kyl stated his belief that “impeachment is always a possibility” regarding President Barack Obama’s recent immigration policy shift, during an appearance Tuesday on the Bill Bennett radio show.

“If the president insists on continuing to ignore parts of the law that he doesn’t like, and simply not enforce that law, the primary remedy for that is political,” said Mr. Kyl.

“And you have it two ways: one is oversight through the Congress to demonstrate what they’re doing wrong and there are some potential criminal charges there for dereliction of duty. Although, I haven’t looked that up yet. And the other part of it is people need to react through the ballot box to turn out of office those people who are not doing their duty. Now if it’s bad enough and if there are shenanigans involved in it, then of course impeachment is always a possibility. But I don’t think at this point anybody is talking about that,” added the Arizona Republican.

Mr. Kyl’s comments come a day after the Supreme Court struck down three provisions of the controversial Arizona immigration law known as S.B. 1070. The majority of Republicans had similar reactions to Mr. Kyl, although the Arizona senator has been the only lawmaker thus far to mention impeachment as a possible “political remedy” for Mr. Obama.

The impeachment reference is also indicative of the overall Republican sentiment towards the president, after his recent executive order that allows young immigrants to legally pursue a path towards citizenship. Mr. Obama’s immigration policy shift places Republicans and presumptive Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney in a tough spot, as they do not want further alienate the nation’s Latino voting demographic which already overwhelmingly supports the president in nationwide election year polling.

Mr. Kyl released a joint statement with Arizona Senator John McCain following the Supreme Court ruling that was also critical of the Obama administration.

“The Arizona law was born out of the state’s frustration with the burdens that illegal immigration and continued drug smuggling impose on its schools, hospitals, criminal justice system and fragile desert environment, and an administration that chooses to set enforcement policies based on a political agenda, not the laws as written by Congress,” said the two Arizona Republicans in their joint statement Monday.

Arizona Governor Jan Brewer stated that she felt that the ruling provided vindication on her state’s behalf, because the Supreme Court upheld the provision in the law that allows police to check the immigration status of any individual during a traffic stop or domestic incident.

Mr. Obama, who has expressed opposition to the state’s immigration law, also reacted positively to the SCOTUS ruling on Arizona’s immigration law, saying it provided an incentive for congressional action on the issue of immigration reform.

“What this decision makes unmistakably clear is that Congress must act on comprehensive immigration reform,” said Mr. Obama. “A patchwork of state laws is not a solution to our broken immigration system — it’s part of the problem.”

The president has not commented on Mr. Kyl’s “impeachment” remarks.

I'm sure he'll use it to rile up his base when he does.

The thing we really need is the thing which parliamentary systems actually have i.e. a vote of no confidence. The age when we could afford to be stuck for four years with a total loser are long gone.

Fu*k you Kyl!

Do you really think Obama is scared of your false, pseudo thread. You are as gutless as your leader McConnell!

That’s right! Too much power in the hands of one man for too long. In parliamentary systems the president doesn’t have as much power, and the prime minister (on whom they vote no confidence) is expendable. Heck, the Chinese have a parliamentary system! We’ve got ourselves a King George.

Is this a veiled threat, which would be politically foolish, or is Jon trying to hog the limelight?

I think we had the two votes of no confidence.

His last two budgets went down 100 to 0 and 99 to 0.

Problem is, nobody knows about this.

I hate the incessant use of the word “immigration” in all the debate, because Immigration - the LEGAL kind - is a rich and noble part of our history. But the Left is pushing the idea to the public that Conservatives are against immigrants, period. Since most folks (particularly the politicians and media) are too PC and scared to use a term like “illegal aliens” - how about we coin and start using new phrases: Illegal Migrants, Illegal Migration.

HEY Kyle! We are one step ahead of you cowardly RINOs. Read and learn:

The Arizona Ruling by THE NINE SUPREMES (actually 8) has proven that we no longer have a US Constitution.

Hence, it is pointless to talk about a Court Dictate being anything but a dictate of the polarized Court.

We also have a Rogue Dictator, and a Rogue Obama-Rifles A.G. Leader.

Preference is not the issue. What the Court has already Dictated what will be is the issue.

The further destruction of the US Constitution is the most probable dictate that the Court will hand down, as this will be the last dictate of this past year, and hence they cowardly will release their worst dictate on their last day in session.

Since Obama”care” of ANY sort will financially destroy America, our options are limited to Congressional ABOLISHMENT of all of Obama”care,” or for we, the people, to begin the tedious process of convening peaceful State Constitutional Conventions, and splitting the former USA into multi-State Regions.

For almost 80 years we have been saddled with the failed Keynesian Economic System. It has bankrupted the US Federal Government.

The derivatives of the WW2 Wage and Price Control Dictates are as follows: Medicare, Medicaid, Romney”care” and Obama”care.”

All of these vote-buying gimmicks are funded by debt created by the failed Keynesian Economic System.

Currently this Debt is charged to those who cannot vote: our Grandchildren’s future descendants.

This Debt is the Federal Grandchildren Tax, or FGT, to distinguish it from the FIT, or Federal Income Tax, which only 51 % of us are required to pay.

The Silent Majority is silent no more.

There will be additional calls for State Constitutional Conventions if the Republicans try to preserve or retain ANY of Obama or Romney”care.”

Obama”care” is the Death Knell for America. It must be ABOLISHED FOREVER if America is to survive.

If Obama”care” does survive, then I favor Regional Areas of the former United States of America. I think the States that the XL Pipeline will run through makes excellent sense for one Region, called The Texas Region. The Mississippi Region would be those States that the Mississippi River runs through. Pacific and Atlantic Regions are obvious, as are the Rocky Mountain States.

In this way people could vote with their feet and move to a greater or lesser degree of personal Liberty.

The Great Experiment of forcing the United States of America back into the European Feudal System began with FDR’s Social Security System and will end with Obama”care.”

There is no need for armed conflict, as we have already tried that horrific method with our bloody Civil War.

Just peacefully hold State Constitutional Conventions, split up the former USA into multi State Regions, and then hold Fourth of July “Remember When Days” once a year, as we thank our lucky Stars that we in NO WAY are like Europe.

BTW, if we were a Nation of Laws, we could have survived.

We, instead, have become a Nation of Lawyers, and thus survival is not possible.

Lawyers do not obey the laws, they just change their interpretation of the laws to suit themselves. “Remember the Arizona Law!” would make a nice State Constitutional Conventional poster.

During the State Constitutional Conventions and split up of the former USA, we need to designate a multi-State Region just for Lawyers. They could then Keynesian themselves to their hearts content.

The Region that I will choose will be based on “The Invisible Hand” of Samuel Adams’ Free Market, with NO safety net.

Impeachment of Obamugabe?

The senate eunuchs are much less likely to take steps against the emperor than he is of willingly abdicating the throne. He enjoys the trappings of power too much to ever leave them behind.

Words are wind Kyl.
