How can you tell when a campaign knows it has stepped into quagmire? It shifts to defense and starts complaining about context. After several days of attempting to defend his you didnt build that remark, Barack Obama shifted last night to a defense that originated with some of his on-line apologists that Mitt Romney took his remark out of context:
The president, after taking a few-day hiatus from campaigning along with Romney out of respect for the victims of the Colorado mass shooting, set out on a round of fundraisers where he tried again to douse the still-simmering controversy over his ill-phrased remarks on business in America.
Speaking in Oakland Monday night, he said Romney knowingly twisted my words around to imply he didnt care about small business.
The fundraiser remarks marked the latest effort by the Obama campaign to claim Romney pulled his quote out of context. The Obama campaign released a web video titled Tampered on Monday that made the same point.
However, the campaign did not initially mount this argument. In the days immediately following the comments, in which the president suggested businesses owe their success in large part to government, the campaign defended the presidents remarks without claiming they were taken out of context."

Go ahead O-man, put another nail in your likability ratings. Whiner in chief.
And the really stinky thing is that Romney is the very first politician to ever take an opponent’s comments out of context.
;P
These words need to hound him all the way into Nov. The more he tries to defend what he said, the stupider he sounds. So, keep
It up, Barry. We all love it when you go off TelePrompter.
Even *in context*, that line still stinks of socialism.
It doesn’t matter. Even taken “in context” it is a big steaming pile.
Roads? “Infrastructure?” WE BUILT THAT. Our parents and their parents built that. We paid for it. Private firms built it. At best the government was just the sub-contractor. At worst (and most likely) the government was an obstacle.
No fair!!! Romney used my own stupid words against me!
Dear Leader,
Out of context? Sarah Palin say hi!
You mean like the way Obama twisted Romney's comments about not worrying about the poor because they already have safety nets?

Like his side would never do that.
Only his media is giving him sympathy.
You didnt get there on your own. Im always struck by people who think, well, it must be because I was just so smart. There are a lot of smart people out there. It must be because I worked harder than everybody else. Let me tell you something there are a whole bunch of hardworking people out there.
If you were successful, somebody along the line gave you some help. There was a great teacher somewhere in your life. Somebody helped to create this unbelievable American system that we have that allowed you to thrive. Somebody invested in roads and bridges. If youve got a business you didnt build that. Somebody else made that happen.
:: At best the government was just the sub-contractor ::
The gummint was equal to “Bain Capital” in funding the infrastructure!
In context with the rest of his remarks it is as bad or even worse. Romney should be pointing this out and directing people to hear it on the web.
I really, really, really hope Romney does not let this one go.
As is often said around these parts, libs reveal what they fear. In this case, they’ve realized that 0bama said this in pure, unadulterated angry, contemptuous context and the time for graciousness is damn well over. I want this horse beaten until it’s an unrecognizable bloody patch on the asphalt. I want this shoved down their throat until 11:47 on election night. This cuts under all the bumper stickers and the beauty of the footage and the quote is that they each stand alone and they undercut all but a very few 0bumper-sticker slogans.
Romney, do NOT let this go. From millionaires and billionaires, right down to the one-man shop, 0bama has drawn the line with this declaration of war against all self-reliance and all entrepreneurship and it would be a terrible, if not fatal mistake to let him have one minute’s break from it. Slam them.
“the still-simmering controversy”
This is not the kind of thing that’s going to go away. It’s going to haunt Obama for the rest of his life because it’s the revelation in his own words and video that’s going to tip the election scales against him this November.
Agreed, the whole 1 or 2 minute long segment is worse than the single remark. When you hear the full context it’s much more shocking, they need to start playing the whole remark in tv ads!
“Dear Leader,
Out of context? Sarah Palin say hi!”
Now that’s funny...ROTF
It would appear that Bidenalgia is indeed contagious.
The infrastructure was paid for.
A paint store doesn’t revisit what was done with their products, demanding a cut of the $10,000,000 profit from an artist’s masterpiece created using a $10 bucket of paint.
Gas tax (infrastructure construction & maintenance) plus 35% income tax (the “you made a big profit off what others built, give some back” argument). What more, quantified, do these socialists want? [Funny, when I ask my favorite Leftist this over and over he never answers...]
