I was also wondering why Cleveland MO? Owners of The Blueberry Patch are born again Christians. That might have something to do with it. Cleveland is about as far west as you can get in MO without being in Kansas. Crushed limestone roads, dust and more dust, heat....
I am sure the barbaque was good....I know the blueberry muffins were great! (Have about 20 pounds of their blueberries in the freezer!)
I have gone 'over' there many times to pick blueberries. Last year was nothing like this year, and there were so many people the berries were pretty much picked over, so I bought a couple of bags of the already picked. I still have some left in my freezer and take out as much as needed when I want to add to pancakes or make muffins.
I am on their mailing list and it escaped me the 'born again Christians, but they run a nice business. I did not go this year, and I do not think I got a flier giving the blueberry conditions. I think they irrigate from the ponds, but since I was tooooo busy trying to keep alive my own garden and had a bumper crop of strawberries I only considered making a blueberry picking trip before the strawberry harvest.
I was surprised at the selection of this venue. My experience from going for my own purposes, Sarah was dressed just fine. I have been and would have been more concerned over getting attacked by the tiny red chiggers than what I might look like. I suppose one need to have been there to comprehend the setting.

I too figure the barbecue was good, but, given the heat blueberry shakes would have been better...
