Top Obama adviser draws comparison of Ryan and Palin, says choice won’t help Romney (Axelrod)

A senior political adviser to President Barack Obama is likening Mitt Romney’s selection of Congressman Paul Ryan as his running mate to John McCain’s choice of Sarah Palin.

David Axelrod tells “CBS This Morning” he recalls “that kind of excitement four years ago” when McCain presented Palin to the country as his choice for vice president. Axelrod says in Monday’s interview he thinks the selection of Ryan, who is popular with tea party figures — as Palin was — is “not going to be a plus for Mr. Romney.”(continued)

They were scared of Governor Palin then and they're scared of Congressman Ryan now. So, yeah, I see the similarity.

Plus, there was no “Tea Party” in 2008, genius, so how was she “popular” with a non-existent group in 2008? And this guy runs a national campaign? Wow!

I know his job is to spin and obfuscate, so there is no surprise here. Do independent thinkers not see that virtually every election since 2009 is going the way the Tea Party wants it to go? This movement is a very mainstream movement. Even many who do not consider themselves ‘Tea Party’ are voting for the same message.

I've noticed that lately Axelrod has been much more manic than usual and his tics (bugged eyes, lip-licking and shouting) are much more pronounced. My diagnosis? FEAR.

Perhaps Axelrod may be understanding that Palin and Ryan may turn out to be the one-two punch that will defeat "hope and change" and replace that fraudulent and counterfeit invitation to slavery with the only authentic idea which ever has brought freedom, opportunity, and prosperity to a nation.

Palin's fresh "common-sense" approach caused enthusiasm, and Ryan's unique ability to articulate America's founding ideas will bring real "change" to the understanding of voters. Their combined appeal will help to engender a new sense of individual worth and the "People-over-government" idea which gave birth to America.

Instead of falling into the so-called "progressive" tactic of dividing people by ethnic background, level of income, etc., Paul Ryan enables Romney's campaign to articulate the singularly American idea that Creator-endowed life, rights and liberties belong to every individual, and that those ideas are, therefore, unalienable and are not grants from government, nor are they available for proscription by government.

That idea, if articulated clearly, will be understood by each citizen who catches the Founders' meaning, to be applicable to that citizen, and to work to that citizen's benefit to provide opportunity and freedom.

For decades, the "progressive movement" has sought to eradicate that idea from textbooks and public discourse, because the power of that idea ennobles, dignifies, and causes individuals to resist the appeal of those who wish to enslave them.

The author MIGHT have a point, if Obama had numbers as high as he had in 2008. Closer in, I believe his poll numbers will collapse. Obama will either have to declare martial law, or he will be tossed out of the White House.
