Obama mocks Romney as ‘getting tough on Big Bird’

DENVER—President Barack Obama, stung by bad reviews in his first debate of the 2012 White House race, joked that the "very spirited fellow" onstage with him was "not the real Mitt Romney." Obama also mocked the former Massachusetts governor's pledge to cut government subsidies for PBS as "finally getting tough on Big Bird."

"When I got onto the stage, I met this very spirited fellow who claimed to be Mitt Romney," he told cheering supporters here. "But it couldn't have been Mitt Romney, because the real Mitt Romney has been running around the country for the last year promising $5 trillion in tax cuts that favor the wealthy."

"The fellow onstage last night said he didn't know anything about that," Obama said. The president then gave the same treatment to Romney on education and other issues—and hit back at one of Romney's debate zingers, "I maybe need to get a new accountant," uttered in a spat about outsourcing and whether companies can take a tax deduction for shipping jobs overseas.

"We know for sure it was not the real Mitt Romney because he seems to be doing just fine with his current accountant," Obama said....

Just typical of a punk. Get his ass handed to him in a fight and then, later, act like he is the big bad ass around.

This c-sucker couldnt beat his way out of a shit splattered paper bag.

Romney's right. Serve that saccharine-sickening avian for Thanksgiving dinner.

We aren’t. The head of CTW said on CNN today that Sesame St is funded through donations and licensing revenues. Not taxpayer $$$.

In reality Sesame St is a profit center for PBS, raking in more money than it spends and with the excess funds being used to support other shows.

Lame attempts at cool just do not work too well when you are picking yourself up after having your a$$ handed to you like Zer0 did last night.

That did me a world of good.

He had better be careful, they may start connecting Obama to Snuffleupagus.

Snuffy will always be four years old although his official birthday is August 19th.

Snuffy and family got to go on a trip to Hawaii, which was his first time outside the "lower 48."

In one episode, newspapers on Sesame Street carried the front page headline, " Snuffy's got to go!"

This running gag ended with the November 18, 1985 episode of Sesame Street, which was also episode 2096 and the 17th season premiere, when the adults finally met Snuffy. Big Bird is sick and tired of not having the grown-ups believing him when he tells them about Snuffy.

This perhaps explains Obama's birth certificate problems? And maybe the running gag will end for us in Nov, too?! We can pray! Obamagus must go and take that Big Bird with him, too!

Obama wasn’t so tough when Romney was in his face and calling him out. All BO could do was stutter.

Big Bird is a billionaire. Why is he getting government subsidies?

Agreed.

And, wasn’t there a huge estate donation several years ago to PBS- tens of millions of dollars?

People were wondering then why the government was having to prop up PBS with that and the telethons they are always having. Let the people who watch that crap pay for it.

And count that money with cookies, damnit. (One million dollars and one cookie, one million and one dollars and one cookie...)

They can spin it whatever way they want. However, the reality is that 65 million people (not including the Spanish language stations) saw Romney kick Bathhouse Barry’s ass all over that stage last night! Hey Plouffter, how about coming clean about your boys drug use. He looked like he needed a good fix.

I’ve wanted to see us de-fund PBS since forever, and its always irritated me that Repubs lacked the nerve to pull the plug on them.

So, last night Romney tells Lehrer to his face that he will de-fund them. Made me smile.
