TWO days after President Obama’s first debate against Mitt Romney, Stephanie Cutter, a deputy campaign manager for the Obama re-election effort, decided to tweak Mr. Romney for his attack on federal funding for PBS.
On Twitter, Ms. Cutter, known for her dry sense of humor and sharp edge, circulated a photo of Big Bird outside an Obama rally with the hashtag #ProtectSesameStreetNotWallStreet to her 42,700-plus followers.
The Big Bird attacks started to take on a life of their own. The following week, the Obama campaign introduced a tongue-in-cheek ad that compares Big Bird to Bernard L. Madoff and other corporate criminals. “Big, yellow, a menace to our economy,” the ominous voice-over intoned.
It was a typical quick-response effort by Ms. Cutter, doing damage control after an admittedly lackluster performance by the president. “She spotted right away that this was something that was trending out there and that was making an impact,” David Axelrod, the president’s chief strategist, said of Ms. Cutter, who was not involved in the making of the ad itself...

The article suggests that she’s hot. The 10 year old pic with Kennedy suggests she’s frumpy. Lives in a Chicago apt? No man. Probably not worth having. Calling Romney a felon would cast doubt on anyone who is ‘interested’ in her. Probably a fine Aunt to her nieces/nephews. Probably best that she has no kids of her own.
We’re $16 trillion in debt and she wants to throw taxpayer money at Big Bird. As somebody else has already said, I’m glad she and her tin ear are on their side.
Sesame Street may be on PBS but who/what company is getting all the profits of all the products sold with the SS characters on them? Books, toys, DVDs, clothing, etc.?

Big Bird was a sophomoric attack. A lot of democrats were wondering if it was a smart strategy. Cutter is in a bubble full of college smartasses. At the end of the day, even the democrats are going to cut Sesame Streets funding after their overly generous funding was exposed.
Your are kidding, right. I watched Saturday Night Live (SNL) last night and until I saw your post, I thought the add was a SNL skit.
Wish you could create an illustration of windfarms killing real birds and Native Americans killing bald and golden eagles for religious ceremonies...comparing that to Big Bird stuffing his pockets with tax-payer money.

It was not a "tongue-in-cheek ad", it was a trial balloon. It turned out to be a ten ton lead balloon that wouldn't even float on water. So now the lap dog NYT has to try to resurrect Cutter with a puff piece. It's simply lip stick on a pig.
10 years later she’s still good looking. She was just conservatively professionally dressed in that photo. (Probably the more needed th en because she was very young and pretty.) She is a nasty, cutting soul, however.

I'm still confused about that. Was it an SNL parody, or was it an actual campaign commercial? I didn't see it myself.
