Are you tired? Isn't it time to form the Tea Party to replace a certain other party?

Bowing to the independent freaks again are we? How did that work out for us Tuesday? We don’t need indies. We need the Conservatives to vote, but they had no one to get excited about this time....

How will this party get even 1, let alone 40?

“We have got to stop running from the abortion issue... IT IS A WINNER !”

Last night it wasn’t. Guys like Aiken and his buddy went for the gold with the rape crap. And women everywhere recoiled in horror. Even several conservative women i know just shook their heads in embarrassment at those two. And guess what? Those two men will now be responsible for more abortions than you can imagine. Because THEIR stupidity helped Obama from coast to coast.
Obama, the guy who wants to kill babies that survive an abortion attempt. (and who will probably appoint a few justices that may totally transform the court!)

Stupid posturing might make you feel important and pure, but it repels the majority of women, keeps Obama in office, and causes millions of abortions.

No, our 3rd party needs to be solely economic. That will draw in people from across the spectrum, draw voters form both, and cause misery to both. And believe me, the last thing they want is for the rank and file opponents out here to start forming connections.

Are you a conservative? Did you vote for Mitt? Or were you a valiant “stay at home”?

I think a lot of us were anti-Romney until the primaries ended and we had no other viable options. Then we held our noses.

But Tuesday’s election solidified for me that no jellyfish will ever get my vote again. A jellyfish is squishy in the middle and has no balls and no spine, kinda like most of the Bush family and most ivy league republicans. I want a REAL candidate that’s willing to fight hard for conservative principles, whether they’re a Republican or a Tea Partier or a Contitution Party member or whatever.

Now would be a good time for us to vent our anger and frustration at the RNC for their role in our electoral catastrophe. If FReepers can avoid venting anger at each other that would be good.

Ever hear of Ted Cruz from Texas? Find races where there’s a crappy GOP candidate and run SHARP, ARTICULATE, CONSERVATIVES. Microtarget the seats with carefully recruited well-matched respected locals.
Bring in heavy hitters like Sarah to gin up attention, money and energy.

Win race, do it again, show people it can be done. Repeat 30 or 40 times. Texas alone has like 36 districts. It could be easier than it feels.

As a dream, the idea of a conservative party sounds interesting but in reality a party consisting of 30 to 35 percent of the current republican party would be unable to elect a candidate in any national or statewide contest and would be hard pressed to even win in a congressional district. It would, however, insure the total domination by the democrat party.

You mean like yesterday? We lost in both the presidential and senatorial arenas, or do you know something I don’t know?

The Republican Party was formed from the ashes of the Whig Party and several third parties, IIRC.

Thanks 2ndDivisionVet, but no thanks: IOW, no. The RINOs are those who sit on their asses on election night, and some aren't actually in the party anyway. Good idea, though, going along with this kind of thing: The breakaway party could call itself "Democrats in All But Name". Hey, maybe another breakaway party across the divide would similarly split the Demwits? Maybe?

I like Ted Cruz, but he’s a Republican, not a 3rd party guy. I fully agree about running conservatives. I helped Tim Walberg defeat a true blue RINO here in 96. However the only chance is for conservative to work within and to eventually lead the republicans. Primaries are key.

Amen to that. Conservatives need to register to run for precinct captains in the primaries. It usually only costs about $10. Only elected Republicans get to vote for party leadership.

The precinct captain also often has influence with the people in his precinct, especially with the low info/interest voter. He/she can steer the people into voting for the real conservative that is running.

In 2008, almost half of those positions were open, with no one even running. This is the grass roots GOTV that is lacking, and is the only way to successfully have a conservative party on the national level.

It will take years of concerted effort to achieve. Conservatives also need to agree on a candidate, instead of being fractured in the primary which allows the non-conservative candidates to become the nominee.

"I don’t think a tea-party candidate would work - they would be considered too far right wing. Some of the athiest Independents wouldn’t like it.

Unfortunately, if they are the party of Santa Claus, we would have to become the party of the Easter Bunny. What freebies are we willing to consider giving? (sarc)"

You have a good idea here. We need a FReeper THINK TANK. To start with - cobble together a platform & have a thread for all ideas, suggestions about what we want to do as a party, even what to call it. It will be interesting to see if we can even come to any agreement here on FR first before it's tested nationally.

A reasonable thing would be identification. Do you consider yourself a Conservative, Libertarian, Independent or whatever else. We'll see how these come together in mutual agreement between us....before we can hope a national election could agree with what we come up with.

Someone or a group of people need to start & nurture this 'new party' thread & we need to tend to & participate in the next 3 years. The last year will be a fine tuning year.

I am conservative, I did vote for Mitt, but I understand why some stayed home. There are MORE than enough conservatives to win elections, but we ignore MILLIONS of them, while trying to reach a few....FEW idiot independents.

Yeah, when he snagged the Republican nomination, he was the only one who could stop him. Or do you know of someone else we never thought of?

So you know for sure none of the other Republican candidates could have done a better job than Mittens? How did you know that? A revelation from the Almighty?

Looking at the election returns, it’s possible any of the other opposition candidates could have done better than the failed moderate candidate Rombama, disguised as a conservative.

And who do you refer to as “we” in your last sentence?
