McCain to GOP: Embrace ‘bigger tent,’ ‘leave the [abortion] issue alone’ [VIDEO]

On “Fox News Sunday,” Arizona Sen. John McCain said the GOP has work to do, including embracing “a bigger tent” to attract a bigger constituency.

“I think we have to have a bigger tent. That’s — no doubt about it,” McCain said. “And, obviously we have to do immigration reform. There is no doubt whatsoever that the demographics are not on our side. And, we are going to have to give a much more positive agenda. It can’t be just being against the Democrats and against Harry Reid and against Obama. You got to be for things, and we have to give them something like the Contract with America that we gave them some years ago. We’ve got to give them something to be for.”

McCain also suggested that the Republican Party should strike a softer tone on social issues...

Best bet is we dump McCain now. He has no obvious value to the Conservative movement, nor to the Republican party.

All we will have “won” is the wonderful opportunity to share in the same wrath of God that is coming on the liberal Dems. McCain (emphasis on the Cain) and the rest of the RINOs will learn that too late . . .

The conservative movement has been the only party of ideas for four three decades, and the last three years, it has never been more true. The idea that weare only against Obama and not presenting reform ideas is absurd and dishonest. The GOP needs to retire fossils like McCain and get our 50 and under leaders on television every day.

Great idea Hanoi John....lets get rid of the base to bring in a million ethnic voters. That should give the Dems a 67-33 majority in the Senate

Liberalism is a Loser for the GOP

To GOP: embrace the rat party because you have more in common and you refuse to fight for the people you represent. Conervatives should leave this party in the dust and form the conservative patriot party

BUMP

How badly does the GOP want to lose?

If they did this, they would become a third party very quickly

Why McCain hasn’t switched over to the MARXISTS party is beyond me.

Just where his sorry ass belongs.

What the heck, why even have a Republican party. Isn’t easier to change the party from the inside? Since McCain thinks we should be a more moderate wing of the socialist party, why don’t we all become Democrats? It is jackasses like this that are really killing the party, but they still have their power.

We’ve got to give them something to be for.

I guess limited government, individual liberty and natural rights are too old-fashioned.

Likable and a good communicator that can talk over his detractors and adversaries — that’s what wins for conservatives. It grabs independents and conservative Democrats — the litmus tests don’t matter.

If we have a conservative that meets that, we win. If we don’t we loose. Marginalized candidates, brainiacs, and party hacks are the death of us. We can have a solid and sound candidate but if he comes across as a dead fish they are floundered.

That insanity is akin to a Christian Pastor/Priest telling their members and parishioners “Look, the Secular Atheists outnumber us as do the Muslims. Therefore, to attract more people to our faith - we must embrace the notions of Atheism and Islam in order to appeal to them. Accept Islam and Atheism now... repent later”.

Oh wait - we already DO HAVE bishops and clergy doing that very thing!

And the Christian church is still not growing, but shrinking.

Same thing the GOP is destined for: oblivion.

Deservedly so, when principles mean nothing, and they are surrendered for the purpose of appealing to the lowest common denominator for a vote.
