Governor, the only thing gun laws like our existing ones do is deprive honest, law abiding citizens like me of the right to self defense.
Yes and these are dangerous times.
Why do regular people in NJ have so much trouble getting carry permits?
In NJ, a person already has to undergo a background check and mental health check to get a permit every time they buy a handgun.
Why do they have to leave their pistol at home?
As a matter of fact:
In NJ, a husband and wife can't even transfer ownership of a handgun to their spouse, without filling out a gun permit application and going through a FBI background and background mental health check. Even when both of them already own handguns and have purchase cards.
Why?

"In NJ, a person already has to undergo a background check and mental health check to get a permit every time they buy a handgun.
and 2 non-family references are contacted to ensure the applicant is within "good standing," a NJ Firearms ID Card, NJ driver's license, and then the FBI NICS check.
The permit is only good for 90 days after being issued, and NJ law resticts HG purchases to 1 per month, so if your local PD gets your permits approved on the 1st but doesn't call you until the 15th telling you they're in then you lose time. You make a purchase of the 1st HG and then have to wait 31 days before being able to use the 2nd permit.
