Dustin Hawkins has a pretty decent article over at About.com under U.S. Conservative Politics titled Should Sarah Palin Run in 2016?
He begins by having a little fun with the left:
Democrats claim they would love for Sarah Palin to be the Republican nominee in 2016. They constantly write articles of her irrelevancy, and mock her and write story, after story, after story about her. Because thats what you do with irrelevant people. Many Republicans are even wary of what her nomination would bring, noting that the media and entertainment industry assault on her has currently destroyed her public image.
He then notes her fearlessness when it comes to espousing her constitutionally-conservative positions:
If there is one thing about Palin, it is that she is not afraid to go after her opponents. She is tenacious. She would not back down. She would not apologize. She would not have conservatives hopping mad in her refusal to go on offense. McCain and Romney played nice while candidate Obama pounded them into the ground.
He then talks about the possible Palin-Clinton matchup:
She [Hillary Clinton] will get a free pass [on Benghazi], and the only person who can change the narrative is the nominee for president. But that nominee must also be willing to change the narrative. Palin might lose. But a week-kneed and safe Republican would be but a sacrificial lamb in the electoral slaughter that would be headed the Republicans way.
He goes on to talk about what he calls a myth that people dont like Governor Palin.
Many think a Palin candidacy would be DOA because of her poll numbers. But are those poll numbers a reflection of what people actually have seen of Palin or just a reflection of the portrayal and constant mocking.......

Thanks for the Article ansel, but most Americans weren’t reading Fred Barnes before or after McCain picked her.
That being said, I believe she is all the Article states and more. We would be a better Country if she were ever elected to POTUS. No doubt in my mind.
It would be a positive attitude adjustment on an epic scale.
The Press would attack her, but unlike the spineless jellyfish that supposedly represent us, a President Palin would kick in their teeth using their own lies and distortions.
Someday maybe, but it would be a longshot. That is the truth of the matter. Our fellow Countrymen have disappointed me more than I could have ever imagined...
Okay, I’m done for the night, again. Goodnight.
“Most” Americans don’t hear about conservative super stars in routine media.
Which conservative governor super stars do you think that the majority of Americans could identify right now, or six months ago, or six months from today? Any? A single one?
I Really think it would be a better country if charles manson were president as opposed to OBama . not that manson is good but that anything is better NOTHINg could be worse. The ONLY reason it Obama has not made more of a move against us is because many of us here in the South have guns and he is a coward and know that we would win this time so they the socialists/democrats are being more patient but it could happen anytime but they are trying to disarm us to make even more of a move if that is possible.
What’s with the photoshopped Vogue cover?
No, it’s not real.
The author is illiterate.
Steve Flesher’s comments are close to my thinking about Sarah Palin. There are many of us who have watched with anger the media dog pile on her for over four years. The result has been a low information public indoctrinated with a prejudice out of the darkness of hell. It reminds me of the irrational racism bestowed on minority groups throughout man’s historical underbelly. If there were such a thing as America’s Joan of Arc, Sarah Palin would be that woman.
It is no secret who the Dems have on deck to be their next presidential nominee: Hillary Clinton. We know her as the “Hildebeast”, derived from the African animal the wildebeest. That name is most fitting for, if she were to rise to the level of POTUS, she would be a savage foe of our freedom. She would take a special vengeance on conservatives who she has hated since her days at Wellesley College where she embraced Saul D. Alinsky in her senior thesis. The Hildebeast is nothing but a Communist pig, pure and simple. She would take her communist ideas down to the social level to remake America into a Marxist squalor. Her bigotry towards conservative values would be unprecedented. Only Sarah Palin would have the necessary fight to expose Clinton for the Communist she is. And, Sarah Palin would then take her place she was destined when John McCain chose her to be the first woman vice president on her way to become President.
If she’s going to run, I think she should announce soon.
He did nothing per the advice of his top counselors.
That said, I'm not certain he was wrong. Have the media ferreted out what happened or worked to interview the survivors? If this happened during Bush's term we'd hear about it 24/7.
Any conservative who runs will face not just the Democratic machine, but the entire media and that's 100s of millions of dollars of PR to overcome.
The media works overtime to sully Palin because they don't like a successful conservative woman, especially one who is physically attractive and emotionally connected to people magnetically. She'll have to overcome that negative stereotype and if she is primaried or loses the general it's over for her.
Sometimes unused power is the most powerful. It's unknown and the imagination of our opponents does the rest.
As a conservative who is tired of voting for suedo-conservatives (Romney, McCain, Bush, Dole, Ford and Nixon) I would rather vote for Palin and lose than ever again vote for a candidate handpicked for me by the Republican establishment. It’s taken me 40 years of voting for the “lesser of two evils”(I’m a slow learner) to get me to the point where I absolutely will not vote for a Republican-lite candidate in 2016.
I see no need to debate the validity of Sarah Palin's future in any capacity she chooses.
I like Nikki Haley however she pissed me off by her love fest of Romney during the primary. I can forgive her for her stupidity at that moment, but it did piss me off at the time.
I agree, and she should run with the soft spoken killer Dr. Carson....he could go around the country, speak in urban jungles and rural farms in that soft voice of his that kills liars...and Sarah could be Sarh, and all would be right with the world again
That’s what they want. In the political game there is only winning. If you lose you don’t get to play. We cannot give up the government. We need a GOP President and Congress to keep SCOTUS conservative and as pro-Constitution as possible.
We can win the thoughtspace with RINOs. We’re doing it on abortion and gun control. We can do it on the deficit and the size of government. The goal is to get the most conservative and electable candidate possible. The goal is to win.
It’ s about time for a third party to emerge with Sarah at the helm.
“I agree, and she should run with the soft spoken killer Dr. Carson....he could go around the country, speak in urban jungles and rural farms in that soft voice of his that kills liars...and Sarah could be Sarh, and all would be right with the world again”
So far from what I have seen of him, I believe you might have a very good selection as her VP.
It's hindsight, but I agree. In 2008, there was Bush fatigue plus a charismatic Democrat nominee. McCain was going to get beat regardless of who ran with him.
But as others have mentioned, if Palin hadn't been picked, she would have needed a break somewhere else to get real national attention. Perhaps major speaking time at the 2008 convention.
