Charges upgraded for man accused of threatening lawmaker (about "gay marriage")

Charges have been upgraded to a felony for a Chicago man accused of threatening a state representative over gay marriage remarks. Police say shortly after Stephen Bona, of Chicago, was charged with a misdemeanor for placing a threatening voice mail at Jeanne Ives' district office, he placed another call to her, leading them to change the misdemeanor charges to threatening a public official, a Class 3 felony. If convicted, Bona could face up to five years in jail.

Wheaton Police Chief Mark Field told the Daily Herald Monday that Bona was arrested and charged March 22, hours after Republican state Rep. Jeanne Ives, of Wheaton, reported getting a threatening voice mail at her district office.

"Your Tea Party brethren Sarah Palin put up a map that included the names, locations, and faces of Democratic candidates and put them in the cross hairs of a gun," the caller said on the voice mail, a recording of which Ives provided to the Daily Herald.

The caller went on to suggest that "perhaps we should do the same for you. We know where you live."

After Bona was arrested, a caller who identified himself as Bona left another voice mail for Ives, police say, leaving his name, address and telephone number, and noting that "for the record, I was charged with disorderly conduct following ... phone calls made to your office in response to your outrageous and personally disturbing comments about same sex relationships."

Ives, the caller said, caused him to "experience extreme disturbance and provoked a breach of the peace as a result of your comments." He pledged to "pursue every legal avenue to hold you accountable."(continued)

Map Points are Crosshairs? Oh yeah, I forgot.

I guess this guy was one of the few that Protested the Movie about the Assassination of President Bush.

In fact, I’m sure he had a problem with the “Snipers Wanted” gag on the late night CBS Show that had President Bush on a Target in the crosshairs of a Scope.

The notoriously pro homosexual-”rights” Chicago Tribune reported the threats and arrest. The paper did not report the reason for the threats. We are better informed if we simply stop reading certain newspapers.

libtards in wisconsin threatened republican lawmakers with death and none got prosecuted.

this is why there will eventually be revolution - selective enforcement of laws only on people that those in power hate.

Threatening someone who swore to uphold the Constitution (no matter the party). Which early president was it that made it illegal to say bad things about the president in newspapers?

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances.

Forget about that last part. There is one set of rules for the elected and a far different set for the oppressed. They can threaten your well being, your property, your family and your very life but it's not a two-way deal any more.

From the article:
"Your Tea Party brethren Sarah Palin put up a map that included the names, locations, and faces of Democratic candidates and put them in the cross hairs of a gun," the caller said on the voice mail, a recording of which Ives provided to the Daily Herald.

"It's not that our liberal friends are ignorant, it's just that they know so much that isn't so."
