New York Ranks Dead Last in Freedoms; 8 Out of 10 Worst States for Freedom Are Blue
Mental Recession ^ | 03/29/2013

Burdensome taxes and regulations, further taxes disguised as fees, and a reputation as a nanny state have finally reaped rewards for New York State: They’ve been heralded by a George Mason University study as the worst state in the nation for such things as fiscal, regulatory, and personal freedoms.

Here are the final rankings:

Fiscal Freedom – 50th

Regulatory Freedom – 47th

Personal Freedom – 48th

Overall Freedom – 50th

Via the New York Post:

New York’s big government — with its hands deep in taxpayers’ pockets and regulations controlling everyone’s lives — has made the Empire State the worst in the nation for personal liberty, a new study shows.

A war on sugary drinks is the least of freedom-loving New Yorkers’ worries, according a report by George Mason University, which rated the state No. 50 for the level of freedom its residents enjoy.

The university found New York’s government slams citizens from every angle — from huge taxes to tight controls on business to myriad rules on all kinds of fun.

“New York has, by a wide margin, the highest taxes in the country,” the report found.

Perhaps more interesting is that, when cross-referencing from the 2012 electoral map, 8 of the 10 states ranked as having the least freedom for its citizens are “blue” or Democrat states.

How's that socialism working out for you, workers and peasants?

Every time Dubya went cross eyed, the commie libs would whine that he was trying to take away their freedom and liberty. Where the heck are those ***holes now as our freedoms and liberties are being assaulted by their ‘RAT massas on a daily basis? America has lost more freedom since 2008 than we had lost from 1776 to 2007.

No data as to the states overall ratings that I could find. Links to the Electroral College showing how states voted; but I can’t answer two questions that came to mind.

What are the 2 states that are Republican controlled that are least in rights?
What are the 2 states that are Democratically controlled that have the most rights?

You are failing to think like a Libtard.

No matter what a Democrat does, it’s always right.
No matter what a Republican does, it’s evil.

You see, Conservatives are rational people. We look at the data, we listen to the arguments and we present facts. From these facts, we make decisions. We believe (foolishly) that when a Libtard is given the “facts”, they may make the same decision as we are.

This is a fallacy. Libtards are not nearly as intelligent as they would have you believe. They are insecure, uneducated and largely have no interest in learning. Look at their demographics - they area willfully stupid. And a stupid person is incapable of looking at facts.

No - to them, you are EVIL. There is no other explanation needed. You are evil, mean, greedy and think only about themselves. In their minds, they are enlightened.

...and the media keeps telling us how great Odumbo is for us. We’re losing this country...and I blame the GOP for nominating a Massachusetts liberal; we needed to go to war in the last election cycle, and we got “Mr. Clean”...Romney.

Almost anybody would have been better.

For all of our state's faults, Nevada comes in #2 in 'Personal Freedom' ranking second only to Alaska on this list, and #20 overall when regulatory policy and economic freedom are factored in.

The last two metrics are typically because of gaming industry regulation and the fact that so much of Nevada's landscape is restricted government property where 1,100 nuclear weapons were detonated here over the course of 40 years. Nevada remains the US military's shootin' range and there are huge government tracts of land that are just off-limits for good reason.

I'm good with this study.

Looking at the report and cross-referencing with the election results.

Mississippi and West Virginia voted the slow path to destruction and were 41st and 42nd on the list.

New Hampshire and Virginia voted for the fast path to destruction and were 4th and 8th on the list.

Mr. Newt would have at least joined the fight.

As far as NY, they tell us how much water we can flush, what light bulbs we may buy, what guns we must register, how much soda can be in out cup, how many bullets can be in our magazines, where we can build...when did they get the impression that should use the law to rule over us? It’s time these lawmakers get brought back to reailty. FIRE THEM ALL.

Maryland is no walk in the park, either. Can’t wait to leave. Cleaning closets underway.
