Watching President Obama’s fury after Congress failed to pass any gun-control legislation was a sign of his political helplessness. Despite aggressively pushing for expanded background checks, despite enlisting the victims of recent gun violence to lobby their representatives, despite getting one of the more conservative senators to support a watered-down background-check measure, he fell five votes short of getting anything passed in the Senate, including losing four members from his own party.
If this doesn’t demonstrate the limitations of the president’s political muscle and the influence of his newly minted Organizing for Action lobbying group, I don’t know what does. Yet, despite the embarrassing setback, Obama nonetheless argued that he still held the upper hand, politically: “If this Congress refuses to listen to the American people and pass commonsense gun legislation, then the real impact is going to have to come from the voters.” That couldn’t misread the political environment heading into 2014 anymore. That’s the audacity of mope.
Put simply, the 2014 Senate elections will be fought predominantly on the very turf that is most inhospitable to gun control–Southern and Mountain West conservative states. It’s no coincidence that three of the four Democrats who opposed the Toomey-Manchin bill are facing difficult reelections in 2014 and presumably are attuned to the sentiments of their constituents. Blame the National Rifle Association for the bill’s failure, but the lobby is feeding into already deeply held opposition to gun regulations and a broader sense of anxiety about the president’s and New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg’s intentions–particularly given the president’s past publicized remark about “bitter” rural voters who “cling to their guns and religion.” It doesn’t take much for the gun-rights crowd, significant in these states, to jump to inaccurate conclusions given that history....

Most of the news from the Obamanation Administration centers around topics that are designed to be just another Obamanation Smokescreen to divert the attention away from Obama managing each new Constitutional Crisis into a Regulation that violates the Constitution.
“Never let a Crisis go to waste,” is the rule that guides Commie Obama.
Examples of these Obamanation distractions are most of the social issues that get attention by the Liberal Agenda Media.
Our sorry Congressional RINOs have been to stupid to learn this smoke and mirrors distraction game, and run from bargain to bargain or deal to deal, with nary a thought to use REGULAR ORDER, as designed by our Founding Fathers to protect us from Tyrants such as B. Hussein Obama.
As any card-carrying Obamanation Journalist will tell you:

I knew Levin would vote for gun grabbing because he’s retiring. If it had been an election year I suspect Stabenow would have been much more resistant.

To clarify I am very grateful for the outcome, but it shows we have a tremendous amount of work to do.
We must really realize that this is the BEGINNING, not the END.
Democrats will keep bringing it back. Barry will do another Sandy Hook/Newtown incident, will blame it on Republicans, the media of course will only spin it this way, we will have to keep dealing with this forever.
Democrats are like dogs that have bitten someone and have drawn blood. You can’t hope to rehab them, they’re done at that point. This issue will not die for them. we can’t stop our own pressure and education of congresspeople. We can’t stop putting up ever-stronger 2nd Amendment folks for office. At ALL LEVELS. ALL LEVELS. Otherwise we will have NY and Chicago bans all over the place.
I was reading some anguished moping from liberals today, and many said the same thing; just wait until we get 5 liberals on the Supreme Court, and we’ll strike down every damn principle this country stands for.
Just shows you where they think rights come from.
Libs - rights come from us, they are what we tell you, we determine that for you. Until we can change the laws we’ll enforce only the ones we like and not enforce the ones we don’t like and want to change.
Conservatives - rights come from God, guaranteed by govt.
WTF they think they are kidding. They want complete door to door confiscation. The Dept. of Homeland Defense helped write the N Y law and was the driving force behind the letter to one NYer who was required to turn in his firearms.
