All I can say is that Delegate Joe May is running a 100% negative campaign against Dave LaRock. . . tons of half-truths, and all repeated endlessly with a really edited version of events. . . .

NOTHING positive about Joe May. . . because there’s nothing positive about the guy.

Just another long-service RINO who needs to be sent out to pasture.

Vote LaRock!!!

Victoria Cobb, President
Monday, June 10, 2013
Primary Day in Virginia
Tomorrow is primary day in Virginia and several intraparty races will be decided in preparation for November’s elections.
Democrats will be deciding on their candidates for Lt. Governor and Attorney General. For LG, current state Senator Ralph Northam (D-6, Norfolk) is facing off against former Obama administration appointee Aneesh Chopra. Northam, who received a 25 on The Family Foundation Action’s 2013 General Assembly Report Card, has the endorsement of Planned Parenthood and has been one of the abortion industry’s most vocal apologists. Chopra, who served as Secretary of Technology for then Governor Tim Kaine, has made public statements that are supportive of the abortion industry and abortion on demand, is supportive of elevating sexual behavior to a protected class and opposes the “Tebow Bill.” The winner of this race will face Republican E.W. Jackson in November.
Democrats will also decide their candidate for Attorney General between state Senator Mark Herring (D-33, Fairfax) and former federal prosecutor Justin Fairfax. Herring, who received an 18 on TFF Action’s Report Card, is also an ally of the abortion industry in Virginia. Fairfax has made comments in opposition to Virginia’s abortion center health and safety standards. The winner will face Republican Mark Obenshain (R-26, Harrisonburg) in November’s general election.
There are several House of Delegates primaries in both parties, a list of which you can review here where you can see if your delegate is being challenged.
As you know, The Family Foundation is restricted by federal law from endorsing any candidates for office and we do not participate in primaries for either party. Our goal is simply to keep you up to date on the elections that are happening and to ensure that you have the best information available on the candidates’ stances on important values issues so that you can make an informed decision.

I really hope Northam wins the primary - then we can pound on him to resign his Senate seat because he can’t represent his district while running a statewide campaign.

Hey, thanks! I see that three of the Republican winners are ones backed by facebook friends of mine who are Leadership Institute interns. That’s a good sign.

It sure is looking like Northam. To be honest, I’m surprised.

Here’s what Susan Stimpson says about that on her facebook page:

Susan B. Stimpson for Virginia Lt. Governor 2013
So the Democrats nominated Senator Ralph Northam for Lt Governor. He is a doctor. Unfortunately, after the way he ran his primary campaign where his #1 issue was talking about abortion, Planned Parenthood and the morning after pill, it’s hard to think of him as anything other than an “abortion” doctor.

Good for her - and what is even worse about him being a doctor is that he is a pediatric one.

A White State Senator from a swing district beat some Indian-American Obama servant in the rat primary for LT Governor making EW Jackson’s road to victory harder.

Don’t think it’s such a swing district, or else the Democrats wouldn’t have let Mark Herring run; if Herring won the Lt. Gov. race and thus resigned his senate seat, it would allow the GOP to control the senate (which is currently 50-50, with the GOP Lt. Gov. breaking ties) by winning the special election.

Looked it up, and Obama beat Romney 59%-39% and Kaine beat Allen by 60%-40% in SD 33. McDonnell carried it with 55%, and Cuccinelli and Bolling each with 52%, so a Republican *can* win there if the tide is strong enough, but I wouldn’t characterize a district in which Romney and Allen each lost by 20% as a “swing district.” http://www.vpap.org/elections/district/112

Mark Herring is the rat running for AG. I’m talking about the rat running for LT Governor, Ralph Northam from Senate district #6, he beat a GOP incumbent for the seat in 2007 so I figure it’s a swing district.

D’oh! You’re right, of course.

Northam’s SD-06 is in the Tidewater, not in NoVA, but it is pretty Democrat as well, though: Obama carried it 57-42 over Romney, and Kaine carried it 58-42 over Allen in 2012, while in heavily GOP 2009 the vote percentages for McDonnell, Cuccinelli and Bolling were 54%, 52% and 50%, respectively. http://www.vpap.org/elections/district/26

BTW, the SD-06 was made about 4% more Democrat in the 2011 Democrat senate redistricting—McDonnell would have gotten 58.06% under the old lines. http://www.vpap.org/elections/district_redistricting/26 Maybe that’s why the seat was held by a Republican before Northam won it in heavily Dem 2007. As it is now, it leans pretty strongly RAT: had the VA GOP Speaker not chickened out a few months ago, the new lines approved by the VA Senate on January 21 (when a Democrat skipped the session to attend Obama’s inaugural) would have become law and the SD-06 would be comfortably Republican. We need for Cooch and Jackson to win so that the Senate can pass that map again, this time as a stand-alone bill (not as an amendment to a House bill making minor, technical changes to House districts, which Senate amendment the Speaker ruled wasn’t germane), and the VA Senate will be around 2/3 Republican after 2015.
