Homelessness jumped 16 percent in the last two years in Los Angeles County.
There are 58,423 homeless people in Los Angeles, which rose from 50,214 in 2011, according to a report by the Los Angeles Homeless Services Authority.
Over the past year, weve seen a significant reduction in federal resources available to fight homelessness, said LAHSA executive director Michael Arnold. The increase we see today in our homeless population demonstrates the direct relationship between resources to address the problem and our ability to have an impact.
Homeless single adults jumped from 35,838 in 2011 to 46,303 in 2013.
The number of unaccompanied youth increased 12 percent, from 366 in 2011 to 817.
Homeless veterans, however, decreased 23 percent, thanks to federal funding.
The response to the veterans crisis was swift and decisive and had bi-partisan support. This clearly demonstrates how the right resources, effectively targeted, can prevent and end homelessness, Arnold said.
There was also a reduction in the number of homeless families. In January, the report counted 6,678 homeless family members, which was down from 9,218 two years ago.

How many are Illegal Invaders?
I hear Maxine Waters has some extra room in her mansion.
The allure of warm weather and free stuff can be overwhelming.
58,000 is more than a lot of cities you’ve heard of. If more than half the homeless aren’t illegals, that’s really pathetic. But then, this is what California gets when they romanticize the homeless as near-saints.
They’re only half homeless. During the daytime here in downtown L.A., they occupy the Homeless Hilton called the LA Public Library.
How can this be, in the Era of Obama?
Obama is liberal. Liberals are compassionate and want to give homes to the homeless.
Homelessness is normally only a problem during Republican administrations.
Lordy.....I keep telling my 32 year old son to get himself and his young family the hell out of there.
I left with his step mom and his four younger siblings eight years ago, and have told him repeatedly to open his f***ing eyeballs to what’s going on in that state.
Talked to him on Father’s Day, and he finally seems to be seeing the light. I can only hope that he acts on what he’s just now observing.
Not to worry. Some of the Hollywooders will leave their luxurous lifestyle and become ‘homeless for a day’ to show the world they really care about people so much they are willing to ‘live like they do’ for a day or so.
Then everything will be okay.
How can this be in the era of hope and change, the White house tells us how good things are Gov. Moonbeam and the majority demons in California tell us how great things are. Isn’t it special when reality bites these lying bastards in the ass? The only problem is that we are suffering for their asinine policies.

Ummmm.... did CBs check with their overlord and master’s people before doing this? Homelessness is only supposed to be an issue when a Repub is in office.

Back when we were a real country, Reagan was president, the dimrat/Marxist/party media spewed nightly about all the poor homeless.
Now, not a peep.
“Wasted away again in obamaville.
Nothing to show but this old obamaphone.
Some people say that it’s my lifestyle to blame,
but I know,
it’s all Reagan’s fault”.
With apologies to the honorable Mr. Jimmy Buffet.
