We do need a second party in this country
Cannot argue with the premiss or the conclusions.
Without God and a Righteous Cause being a foundation, anything we do is moot - even Franklin noted that fact in the Convention.
But also - there is no working within the existing system. It is corrupted and rotten beyond fixing. A reset is required - and those in power are not going to give up their station without a bloody fight.
In fact, I think just about everyone in power now, would rather see this nation turned to ash than to lose their power in subjugating us.
Klan kook
For fifty years we turned out back to God!
Is it any wonder we are going thru Hell now?
Sarah’s the only one that could pull off a third party run ... I just don’t know if she could win.
The current GOP is not performing its role or duty as an “opposition” party. Cavings, capitulations, etc., on virtually all issues from fiscal cliffs to amnesty to NSA data-mining. No fiscal conservatism. Runs from social conservatism like the plague. Behaves like a scared rabbit before the media.
If Palin spearheads or joins with a new Party, I’ll go with her at the drop of a hat. Although I’ve voted exclusively GOP my whole life, I’m more than ready to bolt. And a lot of this actually has to do with the GOP’s lousy, reprehensible treatment of Palin. The best thing to happen to the Party since Reagan, the one person to come along who fully represents my voice both ideologically and culturally... and what did the GOP do to defend her when the media went on its vile rampage against her? When her church was torched? When her kids and family were dragged through the mud? When comedians made rape-jokes about her daughter? When the media accused her of complicity in the Tucson mass-murder? When Hollywood spent millions on a film to smear her? When ludicrous books of lies accused her of basically being a crack-whore? What does the GOP do? Dump on her. Join in with the media wilding. Not even allow her or her name anywhere near the 2012 Romney-Ryan convention. To hell with them!
Man, but I lost every tiny bit of faith, respect and confidence I once had for the Republican Party. The GOP really turns my stomach nowadays.
de Tocqueville never wrote that.
“Is it reasonable to elect a third party candidate simply based on their stance on a few key items?”
IMHO, if the key issues are restricting government to the bounds defined in the Constitution, strict (Originalist) interpretation of the Constitution, border control, Agency removal (IRS, BATF, EDUCATION, ENERGY, EPA) - such a party/platform could win.
He must first learn to spell her name: SARAH PALIN!
She's the only one in the polirical realm who has repeatedly demonstrated that she possesses ALL of the requisite mettle, faith and strength.
;-\
the only way a 3rd party could win would be if the democrat party went into total chaos over some issue and split down the middle into 2 parties.
The concept of libertarian is part of the problem of why people are abandoning the GOP.
Many of us will never embrace homosexuals in the military, and in immigration and State department policies, abortion, gay marriage and adoption, porn and crack, and the entire war against God and social conservatism.
The writer asks about Liz Cheney for example and the GOP just ran a gay marriage, gays in the military, pro-abortion presidential candidate.
LIZ Cheney wanted DADT ended and rejoiced when it was, she was against DOMA, is against a constitutional amendment to save marriage, and supports gay marriage, and supports the State department move to the gay agenda, and until this week had never been pro-life.
The reason Colorado has gone blue is because enough Libertarians got together, sucked hard on the Elephant’s nose and siphoned off enough votes to put John Morse in the State Senate.
Gun Control made big gains in Colorado thanks to the Hickenlooper-Libertarian Tag Team.
May I suggest my fellow Freepers watch show 120 at angelandthewiz on YouTube: A Message To The GOP......you might hear things you agree with..
Of course a third party wouldn’t win. That would take 20 years, if ever.
But the current “2nd party” ways are guarenteed to lose, as they have for 100 years.
The existing conservative writers and radio hosts have an interest in keeping the status quo, as they are doing quite well now under this losing arrangement, complaining about the GOP and favoring “change from within”.
IF a 3rd party could win, it would have to understand and know without a doubt that God could supernaturally intercede and allow a win even though all odds were against this happening.
IF a 3rd party could win, it would have to have the dedicated support and prayer of a large population of "real" Christians who will donate, support and vote! This group would not need to be a majority, as God could overcome that problem.
IF a 3rd party could win, it would have to be unwavering in Biblical morality and unabashedly honest in giving all glory for achievements to God and asking for this blessing in the name of Jesus.
I am beginning to think that perhaps this is our ONLY hope to save America.
Flawed analysis. Imagine a farmer planting fields...that's a new party.
Imagine a farmer trying to plant fields while being harassed by someone who doesn't want him to plant for himself, but to work for him as a sharecropper, on his own land...
That's the Republican party. The Republican Party has become corrupt.
The RINOs are entrenched. Any changes made in the GOP would inevitably become corrupt.
If one takes a gallon of vanilla ice cream and a gallon of manure, and mix them together...will the result taste more like vanilla ice cream, or manure?
