Bill Maher believes that Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) will beat Republican New Jersey Governor Chris Christie for the presidential nomination in 2016.
"He is the guy they think finally stood up to the establishment and did what he said and went to Washington and blah, blah, blah," Maher said during a Tuesday appearance on Piers Morgan Tonight. "So he is going to be very difficult to beat in the primaries."
Though liberals like Maher often mock Cruz, Maher conceded that "you cannot underestimate" Cruz because he represents the conservative base. Maher said Cruz is "their hero" right now for living up to his campaign promises and sticking it to the Republican establishment during the defunding Obamacare battle.
"He is definitely going to be the favorite of the people who vote in Republican primaries. I mean, we saw what it looked like the last time and the time before," Maher said on the program, referring to the 2012 presidential primary in which there were no conservative alternatives to establishment candidate and eventual nominee Mitt Romney. "But the problem with the Republican primaries last time for them, they said they didn't have a Ted Cruz in there. That's why they went with Mitt Romney. Remember, they tried every other person, every other Republican got a shot at being number one..."(continued)

How is it exactly, that Bill Maher ends up with a good prediction, this early?
And I believe this is indeed that.
The Tea Party, as nebulous as it is, needs to figure out how to send a single representative into the GOP primaries. They need something like a primary before the GOP primary.
The establishment GOP money settles on their dolebushmccain going in, while the conservatives stab each other for weeks, leaving the milquetoast as last man standing.
If it's Cruz, then let's make it Cruz and know that before the GOP primaries begin, or we'll get jebchristied again.

Oh we can count on someone like um Rick Santorum screwing things up and Matt Drudge running a vendetta against the only candidate that can beat Christie etc. We’ve been there before but I agree with Mahr that Cruz has an excellent chance as does Paul.
Christie will be the Giuliani of 2016—lots of positive media publicity before the primaries...only to fizzle out quickly in the early primaries.
I’m just saying.
Maher nailed this one, for real.
It’ll be a race that doesn’t go and further than one flight of stair s, with Christie never making it for stairs before needed oxygen and an inhaled.
Cruz has fought the good fight for Conservatism while Christie has carried on a bromance with Obama.
Chris Christie is a democrat. And he’ll probably be Hillary’s Veep choice.

I'd very much like to see Sarah and Hillary go head to head in the 2016 general election. It would be all over for the Dems, but for the crying.
