U.S. Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee, who has decried the failure of Congress to extend unemployment benefits before its December recess, is talking about changing the vocabulary of assistance.
In a speech Jan. 8 on the House of Representatives floor, Jackson Lee suggested renaming government welfare.
"Maybe the word 'welfare' should be changed to something of, 'a transitional living fund,'" Jackson Lee said, according to a post on The Minority Report blog. "For that is what it is - for people to be able to live," she said....

Transitional Living Fund. That’s rich. We should also rename social security to “Temporarily Awaiting Death Panel Fund”.

Yes, the word "welfare" has developed a negative connotation over the decades, and rightfully so.
However, the socialists are always quick to use the "General Welfare" clause in the Constitution to promote their socialist/communist/statist ideals and agendas. So what's the problem Sheila?
"Transitional". BWAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHAHAHA. As if she knows the meaning of that word, also.

We now have a generation that is growing up not knowing one single person in their family to have ever held a job.
Yeah, but at least the teenagers will know their great-great-great-great-great grandparents, who will be celebrating their 40th birthdays.

That little three year old child who was learning the finer points of gangster behavior on youtube is a third generation beneficiary of transitional assistance. His mother had him when she was thirteen and his father was fourteen. In another twelve years he will be a proud daddy.

I wish. When I taught welfare and food stamp moms to look for work back in the 80’s and 90’s, some of them were fifth and sixth generation recipients. Remember, many of them have their first child between 13 and 16.

For the sake of accuracy, maybe U.S. Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee should change her name to “Dumb and Dumber”.

How about we simply call it the gummint teat? Sucking up the dole? Bench warming through life? Hey, how about we call it reparations and be done with it?

I didn’t think government used the term welfare for the past 30 years.
But I like the term “Transitional” living fund. After it all, it does imply they are supposed to be transitioning.

I thought this originally came out as a satirical article. Now it appears that it is real? I can’t keep up with the Democrats’ insanity, what’s real with them and what’s not.

I think Public Charity fits better. The public funds it and it’s charity, a handout.
