Cochran Accidentally Calls Obamacare 'Important Effort of the Federal Government'
Breitbart's Big Government ^ | May 31, 2014 | Matthew Boyle

BILOXI, Mississippi — When Sen. Thad Cochran (R-MS) goes on the record with reporters, it always seems to bring a surprise or two.

This time, in an interview with veteran Washington Post reporter Dan Balz at a campaign stop, Cochran accidentally called Obamacare “an example of an important effort by the federal government to help make health care available, accessible and affordable.”

“I’m glad to be involved in that effort,” Cochran added. According to Balz, Cochran was asked how he evaluated the state of play over the health care law. But afterward, a Cochran adviser phoned Balz to claim it was a mixup.

“A short time later, a Cochran adviser called to say there was disagreement aboard Cochran’s bus about whether the health question had been about Obamacare or the problems at the Veterans Administration," Balz wrote. "He said Cochran was among those on the bus who thought the question was about the VA."

Cochran, Balz noted, hadn't mentioned Obamacare at his previous campaign stop, but after Balz asked about it, he told an audience at his Hattiesburg campaign office that he does oppose the law because Obama's proposals aren't “politically acceptable.”(continued)

Well, technically true. “Important effort of the federal government” and “good for the country” are not necessarily the same thing.

Can’t be “accidental” when he’s been censured already over food stamps in the farm bill among other big-government moves.

to help make health care available, accessible and affordable.”

Those words almost mirror Obama's Obamacare campaign BS.....they wouldn't apply to the VA. Cochran's FOS and pulling a Hillary.

When you make them defend themselves sometimes the truth comes out.

Not an accident. He’s going for crossover dim vote in the primary:

“Desperate or smart? That ‘tis the question as an ad in the Mississippi Link asked “democrats to cross over and vote in the republican primary to ensure our community’s interest is heard.” Republicans asking Democrats to vote in a Republican primary? Interesting.”

I despise him.

Two robo calls for him today.

I’ve slammed down my phone on both, before the caller has completed “its” first sentence.

Nah, leave the line open. They probably have a limit of how many they can do at one time. The more lines open the fewer people they can get to.

You are too classy Onyx. I say some things that would turn the air blue since they are robo calls. Now if the Thad supporter is a female live one, I do the same and pull a Hannibal Lechter quote that makes me sound crazier than the March Hare. Have some fun with them.

Wow, thanks Agnes, good work finding this stuff.

For what it’s worth, I think you have hit the nail right on the head — don’t think it will be even close on Tueday.

Cochran 57%
McDaniels 42%

But, of course, I don’t get to the old country as much nowadays, maybe it will be different this time..

Yup. The GOPe wouldn’t have it any other way. This is why they don’t want closed primaries. So their real constituents, the dims, can vote against anyone that challenges the GOPe incumbants.

No no no no no :)

If it’s a live campaign worker, pretend to be undecided. Make them spend 15 or 20 minutes of their time (and phone resources) trying to convince you.

The more time they waste with you, the less time they have for anyone else.
