Posted on 06/14/2014 3:31:01 PM PDT by 2ndDivisionVet
Joe Scarborough, the MSNBC host who has transformed into one of his generation's most preeminent Rockefeller Republicans, believes Mitt Romney should run for president again in 2016.
Speaking to about 300 guests at "a luxury resort in the Rocky Mountains" with other potential GOP presidential hopefuls like Rep. Paul Ryan (R-WI) and Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY), Scarborough reportedly urged the establishment donors and insiders to being a Draft Romney movement.
This is the only person that can fill the stage, Scarborough said at a summit hosted by Romney, according to a Washington Post report.
Scarborough and other attendees may not have realized that House Majority Leader Eric Cantor (R-VA) was ousted last week because he was seen as emblematic of an ossifying Republican Party that favored cronyism over free markets...

I like firing people...and Im not concerned about the very poor. Romney 2012
He will not get my vote!
Romney didn’t want the presidency in 2012. Why would anyone in their right mind think he wants it now. Geeez. Let’s stop playing this game. Romney is one of Obama and Hillary’s biggest supporters.
This is why I never donate to or vote republican. Scarbarf is a lib, Romney is a lib. There is only party, the national socialists party. they can claim otherwise but that’s the truth.
All big government liberals want Romney to get the GOP nomination. If Romney is the “republican”, they have a 90% chance of a big government democrat winning, and even if the democrat loses they still get a big government liberal.
How many more times is the GOP going to give away the presidency?
I know he’s running. He’s been quietly setting up the playing field in his favor. When Terri Land stepped down from the RNC to run for the senate seat in Michigan, Romney’s niece landed in her spot.
The proper response to this is that the Democrats should run Al Sharpton for president.
“Please nominate people just like McCain and me” Romney, Today Show, Jan 2014
I believe in my Mormon faith and I endeavor to live by it. My faith is the faith of my fathers I will be true to them and to my beliefs.
Mitt Romney, speaking at the George Bush Presidential Library, Dec, 2007,
I don’t think we will have to draft Mitt. He seems to be seriously considering running. A poor idea.
Will Mormons racial history be a problem for Mitt Romney?
...Tim Russert noted that Romney was 31 when the priesthood ban was lifted in 1978. Didnt you think, What am I doing part of an organization that is viewed by many as a racist organization? Russert asked.
Im very proud of my faith, and its the faith of my fathers, Romney answered. And Im not going to distance myself from my faith in any way.
Let the Democrats do it.
Yes. Romney SHOULD be the candidate of the GOP,
the party of RomneyCARE, RomneyMarriage, Romneypolygamy,
RomneyPoorgoverning, RomneyOnBothSides, and
of course RomneyBackstabbing.
Yes. Let Romney lead the GOP, and be honest, for once.
I think the old standby definitions of who votes for which party have been blown away in this campaign. I think people recognize that Im not a partisan Republicanthat Im someone who is moderate, and that my views are progressive.

It was not my desire to serve in Viet Nam Willard Mitt Romney, Boston Globe, May 2, 1994
I longed to be in Viet Nam, representing our country Willard Mitt Romney, Boston Globe, June 24, 2007
Romney in 2016 would be the Republican equivalent of William Jennings Bryan, or perhaps Harold Stassen.
Newt Gingrich did more for the conservative movement than Romney ever did. -Mark Levin, 5/17/2012
Yeah, that worked the first time.
The GOP (badly) needs to wake up.
The last two elections, have run one liberal against one moderate.
In 2008 at least, we had Palin on the ticket.
We need to finally, after losing the last two elections, come to the unavoidable decision, that we need to run someone CONSERVATIVE.
This means American jobs.
And no “moderation”.
Stop playing the democrat game. We need to win.
Fool me once shame on you, fool me twice shame on me.
How many times will the Washington Generals lose to the Harlem Globetrotters? Same answer...
Look, Romney seems to be a decent enough man. Not the sort of guy you’d enjoy a beer or 6 with, but he’d be a fun and witty dinner guest and the sort of boss that tells you to go home on your kid’s birthdays.
Doesn’t make him presidential material. He had his shot, and missed - for whatever reason, but I think you nailed it. He simply didn’t really want the job. That is why he didn’t get down and dirty during the last debate and was tepid during the second one, after a barnstorming start to the debate season.
And then the Pollyanna Republicans can come on FreeRepublic and blame the conservatives for the GOP loss. Again. Lather, rinse, repeat. An endless cycle of misplaced blame.
I’ll be surprised if he doesn’t run. All the signs seem to be there, and it’s more than a poor idea. It would guarantee a win for the Democrats, and I’m worried that our country won’t survive much more of this.
next week’s Republican National Convention platform could include calls for the “Human Life Amendment,” which would outlaw abortion in all circumstances, even in cases of rape or incest. RNC Chairman Reince Priebus discusses.
Republicans are gathered this week in Tampa to draft official platform language, and potential language calling for the adoption of a constitutional amendment to curb abortion rights has drawn newfound scrutiny.
The RNC’s platform committee is set to vote Tuesday evening on draft language related to abortion, which calls for “a human life amendment to the Constitution,” along with “legislation to make clear that the Fourteenth Amendment’s protections apply to unborn children.”
Priebus said on MSNBC. “This is the platform of the Republican Party; it’s not the platform of Mitt Romney.”
I could put up with Mitt as long as he had sarah Palin as his VP.
I believe this may be what Palin is waiting to see, during the next election (in 2016, not 2014).
I believe if Romney runs again, Palin will leave the GOP and run a full-fledged mutiny against the GOP.
I will support her completely in this, as will many I believe.
Romney had his chance. He had a perfect chance, and he LOST.
No more runs for Romney. Go away Romney.
He has been sitting next to Mika too long. I remember when that guy actually made sense
Why does ANYONE with a brain think he can win? He couldn’t even win if Obama ran for a 3rd term. Romney is a disastrous incompetent. Guess he must really believe that White Horse prophecy. What a maroon.
Hey Joe, remember that time you forgot to THINK? Well, this is it.
I’ll stay the eff home next time.
Anything Joe Scarborough recommends bound to be the wrong advice. He’s another disappointment from that Class of 1994.
This is the only person that can fill the stage, Scarborough said
Not so! Susana Martinez in 2016! Governor, Conservative, Female and Hispanic.
Talk of a draft will force Mitt to leave the country again, to live in France.
In the same palace or one of his own?
I didn’t realize we were into identity politics.
