Morning Plum: On immigration, the GOP is Ted Cruz’s party
The Washington Post's Plum Line ^ | July 17, 2014 | Greg Sargent

As I’ve noted here before, the current crisis of unaccompanied minors crossing the border has had one upside. It has forced the actual GOP stance on immigration out into the open, increasingly boxing Republicans into a position where their main solution to the broader immigration crisis is effectively advocating for maximum deportations from the interior, including of the DREAMers.

Now, as the battle over the crisis continues to roil the political landscape, the point is being underscored by none other than Ted Cruz:

Texas Sen. Ted Cruz plans to take a hard-line stand that could rile up conservatives just as lawmakers — including two from his home state — are struggling to address the growing humanitarian crisis along the southern border.

The conservative firebrand believes that any bill to deal with the unaccompanied migrant children at the border must also include language to stop a 2012 immigration directive from President Barack Obama — a proposal unlikely to go anywhere in the Democratic-controlled Senate.

It’s true that Cruz is differing from his two fellow Texans — Senator John Cornyn and Rep. Henry Cuellar — on how to respond to the short term crisis. Cruz is pushing for any GOP legislative response to it to include language ending Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals — i.e., the program deferring deportation of the DREAMers — while the two other Texans aren’t.

But the policy goal that Cruz is advocating is widely shared by many in the GOP, even if they aren’t advocating for it to be included in the party’s immediate response to the crisis....

So the author thinks the Republicans should back amnesty? Note that Greg doesn't reveal that Rep. Henry Cuellar is a Democrat?

Teds got it right. Basically , a presidential executive order cannot have the force of law, usurping current law and the constitutional duty of the president to protect the borders ( Why the left keep saying “the border is secure”).

Thats why the current presidential order deferring the deportation of children MUST be ended. If not, then Ted is setting up a review by SCOTUS to end it, by exhausting all other remedial avenues as required by SCOTUS constitutional issue ripeness requirements.

Ted is a smart cookie. The rest of the Texas delegation should be following his lead, but they apparently are too dense, not the sharpest tools in the Texas shed, Rick Perry included.

“On immigration, the GOP is Ted Cruz’s party”

Actually, no - here is what the headline should read:

“On immigration, the GOP is AMERICA’s party”

Barf alert needed.

The liberal scribe is attempting to Cheney-ize Senator Cruz into some kind of dark & sinister character.

This is nothing but morning pablum for WaPo subscribers to take with their granola & ginseng.

Drop the Kids Off in Jersey?

Chris Christie Would Consider Requests to Help Immigrant Children in NJ
When asked his opinion of the ongoing crisis involving illegal immigrant children, NJ Governor and potential 2016 GOP presidential contender Chris Christie said, “I have great empathy for that situation. We’ll take every request that comes based on its merits and make those decisions.” Jul 17, 2014 7:28 PM PT

I say, send all of the illegals to New Jersey and then build a wall around the state.

Meanwhile, President Obama wages demographic warfare on Texas ( a red state), Arizona ( a red state) , New Mexico and California ( who are now wishing they were red states.)

The battle lines between conservative, GOP states and the others are being drawn. Watch the majority of illegals being trucked to red states.Demographic warfare, using race, aliens and the diseases they bear to conquer the political right. No joke, border patrol personal are already contracting bacterial pneumonia, scabies, lice, and leprosy.

Obama is a piece of work. He was actually afraid to go to the border. Not enough sniper protection, with the cartels and many others gunning for him. One too many Barret 50 cals. were walked down there under Obama ‘s “Fast and Furious” gun running stint.
