Sarah Palin: 'Doug Ducey is the conservative leader Arizona needs'

PHOENIX -- Sarah Palin has endorsed Arizona Treasurer Doug Ducey for state governor.

"Doug Ducey is the private sector job creator and proven conservative leader that Arizona needs as its next governor," the former Alaska governor and vice presidential candidate said on her Facebook page.

Ducey's endorsement came hours after the announcement of an event hosted by former Mesa Mayor Scott Smith and Gov. Jan Brewer, where she is expected to officially endorse Smith.

Palin joins Ted Cruz, Mike Lee, and many other conservatives who also endorse Ducey for governor.

"Through his efforts as CEO, Doug grew Cold Stone Creamery from a small local Tempe ice cream parlor with four stores into a major international chain with 1,400 franchises in 31 countries," she wrote.

After these endorsements, the contest may become a close race between Ducey and Smith in the final weeks of the campaign.

Palin is the second national figure to officially endorse Ducey in the last seven days. Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio announced last week that he would be supporting Ducey.

Palin has endorsed probably 5 out of 6 wrong candidates in Arizona. Always the more pro-amnesty of the candidates.

Cardon better than Flake.

Hayworth better than McCain.

Salmon was much better than the McCain/Palin candidate.

Schewekert was much better than the McCain/Palin candidate.

Gosar won because Sheriff Babeu had that story. Ironically Gosar is the strongest on immigration. Perhaps the primary challenge scared him.

Hmmm, any ideas why she endorsed somebody different than the Arizona Tea Party did??

I did a little research into the 3 candidates I knew were running, and was leaning toward Scott Smith... even tho I am steering away from politicians and he is a mayor, already into politics, he was also a businessman before getting elected mayor. I guess my primary reason was he was a name I knew from being a structural drafter that did drawings for Great Western Homes, the company he was CEO of. But all the negative ads against Doug Ducey got me looking at him a little closer, as they tripped my BS meter.... Then we got our mail in ballots this week and I start doing a little more internet research, last night I saw an ad with Joe Arpaio endorsing Ducey and really got me wondering why Ducey over Smith, I know Smith has called on Ducey to make public some sealed court stuff from sale of Cold Stone, not really sure if he is behind the attack ads or not, but sort of figured he was after hearing that. I don’t really understand the attack ads blaming Ducey for his franchisee’s defaulting on loans...

Anyway, I had not heard, so just looked last night and saw Arizona Tea Party is endorsing Frank Riggs for Gov, as is the NRA... I had not even heard his name yet as a candidate.

Since Doug Ducey is the State Treasurer there is no voting record for him. All we can do is believe what he says is his position.
