There is an Urban Legend afloat among liberals who refuse to own the racist history of the Democratic Party. They always repeat the lie that the racists Democrats somehow - at sometime - transferred their imperialist racism onto the modern Republican party. No matter what some may say I tend to agree with you regarding blog posts. If the post is a tease and a link it’s most likely click bait of some sort.

What about George Wallace?
You are correct that Wallace did not remain a Democrat, but he did not become a Republican.
He ran in 68 under the American Independent Party label.
