The seemingly inevitable nomination of Hillary Clinton and an already crowded GOP primary field has left pundits and strategists debating the extent to which candidates should go negative when campaigning against other Republicans and ultimately, the former Secretary of State. Many Republican strategists are calling for the GOP to abandon or severely limit the negative attacks and focus on their positive vision for America in 2016.
If this strategy is adopted, there is no doubt we will soon have another Clinton in the White House. The GOP has a choice in 2016: Lose again with class and dignity or fight the Democrats at their own game.
Politics is a PR battle and the left is very good at it. For the last several years, the GOP has decided to take the moral high ground and refused to run negative campaigns. Ironically, this strategy only applies to general elections against Democrats. Republicans seem to have no problem launching vicious attacks against other Republicans in primaries, but when it comes to campaigning against Democrats they turn into spineless jellyfish....

The GOP has used plenty of dirty tactics.
Just not against Democrats.
That’s reserved for conservatives

The GOP has a choice in 2016: Lose again with class and dignity or fight the Democrats at their own game. Both McCain and Romney clearly lose again - do not go negative, be nice, etc.
If it's Bush this time - he will do the same.

I had a go-round with a freeper about the Dayspring hire.
Got the usual “doesn’t matter”,
Matters to me, what went on in MS was disgraceful and everyone involved should be shunned.
Especially after Walker hired/fired that open borders chick, you’d think he’d be a little more careful.

Unfortunately (for them) the bosses at the GOP have MET THEIR MATCH with Trump. We were told that Rinse Previous (chairman of the GOP) spent an hour dressing Trump down. It certainly didn’t appear to be the case in Vegas today and I very much doubt it will be the case in Phoenix.
With Trump, those IDIOTS have totally lost control of the party, so maybe we can FINALLY get around to nominating someone that capable of winning.

I disagree with that. The GOPe has decided to keep the gravy train flowing. An honest person can be assertive without being rude. Calling Hillary corrupt is not negative. Its a statement of fact.
From the FALN terrorists to Benghazi she has placed politics over the public safety her entire life.
From the Monica Lewinsky to J. Christopher Stevens she will sacrifice anyone that threatens her power.
From File Gate to Travel Gate to Server Gate to Clinton Cash she has been a human crime wave.

"The seemingly inevitable nomination of Hillary "Felony" Clinton and an already crowded GOP primary field has left pundits and strategists debating the extent to which candidates should go negative when campaigning against other Republicans and ultimately, the former Secretary of State and unprosecuted felon." Someone should tip off the GiveObamaPower establishment [GOPe] that Hillary is a felon...

Agree on the first part. But on the second, not so much.
The article's right - the GOP needs to wage the kind of political warfare that the Dems are experts in.
The article mentions that while the polls show that people want positive campaigns, negative campaigns work.
The reason is that the Dem approach to campaigns has been to jack up their base turnout while depressing centrist turnout by making centrists hate BOTH sides (pox on both your houses) and demoralizing the GOP base. Which gets frustrated by the lack of willingness of their own side to fight.
This is what Obama and Romney's respective targeting strategies looked like:
So, I really have no problem with Conservative candidates hiring political mercenaries who know how to put up a fight and how to win. Even ones who have used their talents in the past to go after Conservatives. We're to a point right now where, for Conservatives, winning isn't everything, it's the only thing. And if that means bringing in practitioners of the political dark arts to take on the expert Dem dark arts practitioners, so be it.
