They have no idea how pissed the base is for one...second they are severely underestimating the support for Cruz and Trump, and how organized and motivated the Cruz supporters are. Cruz probably has the widest coalition across the country, and they already are mobilizing a massive amount of money to his campaign. GOP elites see the tsunami coming.

No they're not. The "base" has no role in national elections. All you need to do is check the last two general elections.
To believe anything other than the middle makes a difference is just foolish.

There are always conservatives who denounce this state of affairs and pronounce themselves tired of serving as campaign-cash piggy banks for politicians who view them as far worse enemies than the Democrats, but in this election cycle, the Let It Burn caucus of disgusted, demoralized, and disengaged voters is particularly loud. I dont think the Establishment understands just how bitter and dispirited their base has become....
This is us! This is Free Republic right here, baby!

Fascinating to see him savaged by the very beggars who dunned him for millions over the past 3 decades.
That's gotta be raising eyebrows everywhere.

Hate to tell all of you this, but the Republican base is the same base as the Democrat base.
Conservatives are being regulated and litigated out of existence. We are no longer the base to anyone but ourselves.
And the sad part about it? We are the ones with the guns.

They’re so angry, some of them are mistaking Donald Trump for a conservative.

A fantastic sentence from the article:
The current front-runner, Donald Trump, is defined by his very loud willingness to tackle Establishment forces, especially the media, which works to set the stage for every presidential election by telling Republican voters which acceptable, genteel losers theyre allowed to support.

And Cruz will lead the way, I think people will be surprised at how many will go with him.
