The second amendment has nothing to do with either of those things, and everything to do with regulating the US militia (read armed forces ).But personal ownership of firearms was an unquestioned right at that time, covered properly by Article IX Concerning Rights not Enumerated.
The Second Amendment went BEYOND this ( literally ) unquestioned right, and affirmed the right of states to support their own militias.
So I would deny that it has "nothing to do" with the private ownership of firearms.

Yeah, historically a loser for the 'rats. In the past 7+ years more people than ever have purchased record setting numbers of firearms. Probably more of a loser of an issue than ever. So sure, please Hillary, by all means alienate the millions of firearms owners, millions of new owners, and their friends and family members who may not be owners yet, but who are getting all the positive feedback. No, really Hillary, this time it could work... {snort}
Apparently, fortunately for us, her campaign manager is an idiot.

Well, if “Scholars” disapprove of me owning, carrying, and using a handgun, then, I guess I’ll Turn them in tomorrow to them, one bullet at a time.

The chief author of the 2nd clearly defined what the militia was in the federalist papers
“the militia is every person in this country. We are the militia”

“The right of the people to keep and bear arms” means, I think, that the people have the right to maintain an armed force, an army, on whatever scale. This is in potential opposition to the federal authority, you see. The significance of it has been lost with the complete obliteration of the autonomy of the “states” ... a misnomer now for “provinces”, however proudly we may bear the name. Ironic, isn’t it?

According to the latest issue of America's First Freedom from the NRA, the gun industry has grown 158% since the Kenyan took office.
It'll probably triple if it seems that the Cackler might be elected.

Is our toothless Congress ever going to stand up to this usurpation of it's rights and the will of the Founders? Not with the likes of McConnell and Ryan in charge. Anyone who stands up to them is roundly vilified.

Is our toothless Congress ever going to stand up to this usurpation of it's rights and the will of the Founders? Yes, once a Republican president tries the same thing, congress will rise up as one demanding adherence to the constitution. Bet on it.

“Yes, once a Republican president tries the same thing, congress will rise up as one demanding adherence to the constitution. Bet on it.”
Exactly correct, which is why Trump cannot dictate as Obama has done.
Trump is not black, and Trump is opposed by all media cartel.
Trump can accomplish much, but it will be in opposition to the media and much of the political elite.
