I don’t think I’m being overly pessimistic. I’m an optimist as much as I am a realist, but we need to be clear-eyed about the extent of the problem.
I’m also not blaming the president, per se. Our government was built to prevent 1 individual from making sweeping changes. In this case, that safety mechanism is protecting the corrupt entrenched political class.
It’s not just a matter of undoing Obama’s policies. Politics is downstream from culture, and our culture, to be blunt, has gone to shit. The American spirit still lives in many but not as many as before as a voting percentage. And, it’s not just a matter of immigrants and aliens ruining it - many of these America-haters have family roots going back generations.
The kind of people we have in government is an accurate reflection of the people. A plurality of voters still voted for Crooked Hillary. The Electoral College saved our bacon again for the second time in 16 years, but the margins are narrowing. A large college football stadium crowd spread over a handful of states is the difference between President Trump and Obama’s third term.
