In the wake of two mass shootings last weekend, 2020 presidential candidate Marianne Williamson is calling to renew a ban on assault weapons.
“The president has said that there's ... no political will or appetite for a ban on the assault weapons,” Williamson told Yahoo Finance’s Adam Shapiro in an interview this week.
“This is clearly untrue. 70% of all Americans want to renew the ban on the assault weapons,” she added, apparently referring to a new POLITICO/Morning Consult poll out this week.
The two shootings from last weekend both used military-style assault rifles, which can be used to fire rapidly. In a shooting at a Walmart (WMT) that killed 22 people in El Paso, Texas, a suspect used an AK-style semiautomatic rifle. And, as The New York Times reported, a Dayton, Ohio, gunman killed nine people in just 30 seconds using an AR-style pistol.

It’s a pistol made off of an AR15 receiver. Perfectly legal under ATF rules.
IF Ms. Williamson really thinks that an AR15 or any of the similar “clones” are “assault weapons”, she is too IGNORANT to have any real opinion on ANY firearms OR to infest the halls of the HoR.
(She is like the KNOW NOTHINGS who call magazines, “clips”. = TERMINALLY uninformed.)
The M1 Garand of WWII fame was about the LAST rifle that used a clip.
Such morons should be CALLED OUT & publicly RIDICULED as DOLTS at every opportunity.

I have a couple of Glock shotguns and one really cool single shot UZI.
The magazine/clip mixup always gets me, too. We have a Kar98k, and have more clips than we have ammo, which doesn’t say much for our 8mm mauser stores.
I can’t fire it anyway. Knocks me right on my backside.
It always bothered me whenever the friends I had made in high school talked about banning guns. I had a roommate that didn’t even want me to keep my colt .38 in the apartment because it scared him. I put a lock on my door to make him feel better, but if I wasn’t home during a break-in, he was dones-o. But because these people know nothing about firearms, these calls to action are all out of fear and not logic. Action borne of a lack of knowledge doesn’t usually end too well.
