Red-state Dems worried Trump impeachment will hurt Senate chances; Giuliani considering lawsuits
Fox News ^ | October 2, 2019

Some red-state Senate Democrats are fretting that the ongoing House impeachment inquiry could expand uncontrollably and become a “kitchen sink” of complaints about President Trump and hurt chances of regaining the Senate majority in 2020, Fox News has learned. Sens. Joe Manchin of West Virginia and Jon Tester of Montana specifically expressed concerns and have told Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y., that leadership cannot allow liberal Democrats to push for the inquiry to include allegations about Trump illegally using his office to enrich himself or relitigate findings from former Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s probe of Russian election meddling in 2016. Click here for more on our top story.

In other developments: Trump’s personal attorney Rudy Giuliani said Tuesday he’s considering individual lawsuits against House Democrats for allegedly violating the constitutional and civil rights of the president and members of his administration amid new congressional inquiries and subpoenas resulting from a whistleblower’s complaint.

Reps. Eliot Engel, Adam Schiff and Elijah Cummings, the Democratic chairmen of three House committees, informed the State Department in a letter late Tuesday that Secretary of State Mike Pompeo appears to have a "conflict of interest" and might now be a "fact witness" in their ongoing impeachment inquiry, after Pompeo accused Dems of trying to "bully" foreign service officers into testifying.

They're not worried about the Senate. They're worried about the house. You really think the Dem Reps want all this? I'm sure their constituents don't appreciate this chaos.

It would be nice to get the house back AND 60 in the Senate.

An article was posted recently that nailed it. Pelosi agreed to impeachment so she could control it. Her desire is to have it over and done with before January. That way it won’t have such a bad impact on elections next year. (Because the average voter has the memory of a gerbil.) The author suggested drawing the process out by fighting everything for as long as possible. Lawsuits, appeals, a second appeal, etc. This appears to be what Trump plans on doing.

I have noticed that if it’s a really good bone my dog wants to spend some serious time with it. Crappy ones he doesn’t bother with much.

Im glad Fox realizes Rudi made news last night. Laura Ingram almost surpassed Sean last night interrupting Rudi, offering her own idiotic explanations for things he was accusing the Democrats of, and treating his ideas as if they were ridiculous and she had to immediately dismiss them.

After all he’s only the president’s attorney, don’t you know.

The worst was when Rudi talked about suing the Democrats for pressuring the news media to keep him off the air, Laura immediately and repeatedly interrupted him to say “yeah but that was just to set you off....”

I know all these talk show egotists have their defenders here, but all she wanted to do was patronize Rudi and offer her own version of everything.

Probably not.

Historically, the Pelosi approach has been a constant barrage attacks based on specious and baseless accusations intended to manufacture a false narrative, inflame hatred in her base and manufacture divisions amount her enemies to wear down and defeat opponents

She is going to keep the pressure on informally to keep her base angry and motivated to mobilize Democrats against the hated caricature of Donald Trump she is manufacturing

She did this against GW Bush and House Republicans andcson the House in 2006 and laid the foundation for Obama’s victory in 2008

All I can say is, the (otherwise spineless) Republican senators better hang tough here. If they don’t, I am done voting R.

Rudy is the Politician version of Donald Trump

He knows how to communicate complex legal concepts and convoluted conspiracies to everyday people in a way that is understandable to them both in the nature of the crime and how the crime impacts them personally in their daily lives

People like Laura are used to dealing with highly educated and wonkish people on a daily basis simply don’t get it sometimes because they prize verbal and legal precision and rhetorical debate while Rudy realizes that for the average guy on the street, the only important point of the conversation is that the average guy actually gets the point and buys into it long enough to take positive action

Rudy’s pretty good at that

President Trump should have friendly ‘interest’ groups file Federal lawsuits that Congress is not following the Constitution on impeachment. Let the courts issue a stop to the impeachment. See how the Libs like the Courts getting into everything!

Fight fire with fire!

I've been noticing the same behavior from Lou Dobbs of late.

Right now we’d lose CO and AZ, pick up AL for a net 52-48 with a Minion making it in reality 51-49. Still wiggle room for a defector.

However, the landscape is changing and enough crap by the DemoKKKrats could pull both McSally and Gardner over. The wild card is John James. Good candidate, but I’ve heard bad things about his campaign staff and so far nothing appears to have changed. Too bad. A winnable seat.

Two weeks ago I had us losing more seats in the House. Again, the landscape is changing. By 2020, it’s entirely possible the GOP could narrowly re-take the House, but it’s an uphill fight with an addition TWENTY retirements to cover.

This is sheer odds. The more seats you have to cover, the more likelihood one or two will fall, whereas most incumbents are at about a 93% retention.

That will only help if they are Trump Republicans.
Re-electing Bush League Republicans doesn’t gain us anything.

Yes...Trump is going to drag it out because he knows all press is good press, and it’s the weapon with which he will continue to beat the dimwits with up until the election!

I have to agree I guess I don’t put Lou in the same category because he’s just cantankerous but you’re right and he does it even with people on our side.

Pelosi agreed to impeachment so she could control it.

Its difficult to control chaos. I find it hard to believe the hate filled Schiff, AOC and the radical squad, and the other misfits of the party are in any way under Nancy's control. Sounds much more like rationalizing bad decision making.
