All during the Soviet period people treated Stalin as if he was an honored individual. He was among the world’s worst mass murderers. Same with Mao. Politics not only makes for strange bedfellows, sometimes you feel like you need to scrub yourself clean. To pick out this or that particular incident(s) that the someone in politics has done is, at best juvenile. At worse, it gives up the opportunities such meetings might bring. Imagine what horrible things might have eventuated if the other world leaders refused to talk to the other side. It’s not like any politician doesn’t have sometimes literal skeletons in their closet. A politician I much admire caused, or at least ignored the fact that thousands, possibly millions of Indians were dying from starvation in WWII. Weston Churchill. Then there’s the fact that FDR targeted wealthy regions he needed for votes for food support when the Appalachians which he firmly held were starving. Let’s face it. Politics is filthy. The author needs to put on his big boy pants.
You are correct. Netanyahu will do what’s best for Israel in the long run. That might mean meeting with Biden. It even might mean giving Biden some kind of stupid award.
Advance your nation’s core goals. Ally with Stalin if it will defeat Hitler. That sort of thing. Leave the moralizing to historians.
