Ya know, I worry about any man who reads Chekov and Heinlein, and works in Health Care Informatics...

Great interview. BTW, those crazy Canadians had better figure out the western 2 Lakes are not good places for them to be because I'll personally meet them on the shores with an ice auger.

My theory is, we are compassionate if you have earned our compassion. Otherwise, please rid the planet of your burden.

Not a bad theory. Not bad at all...

In fact, I plan on opening Mad Max Hospital, where mohawk-wearing patients in football pads carrying crossbows compete for scarce hospital supplies.

Patient Lord Humongous has been our biggest problem. He has a team of patients circling the supply locker.

Mad Max Hospital; I like it.

Imagine the wheelchairs, gas-powered with nitrous injectors. Nurses jumping for their lives out of the way of patients who are shooting at one another.

Sounds like a little slice of heaven to me.

You're a funny guy, Laz. Great interview.

Regards,

PS: I agree with you re: Heinlein -- he was a genius.

The rip of plastic coverings from single use supplies, commandeered for the rebel base established on the wing for otorhinology, a symphony of war sounds as the Hawks and Spits, battle for control. Be patient, all rebellions degenerate into factions. The crossbow will not be important.

Good interview Laz. The first adult book I attempted as a (younger then you would believe) kid was 'Rocketship Galileo.' To this day I have a crazy dream of building my own space vehicle - which hopefully doesn't meant I'm too much a space case. *G*

Stranger in a Strange Land had 70,000 words restored in 1990. I - of course - had to re-read it to see what the fuss had been about, and the answer - as usual - was much ado about nothing. It is one of several books I occasionally re-read to benchmark how differently I view life at different points in my life span.

I don't know if you've read it, but 'Earth Abides' by George R. Steward is my favorite in that catagory of books, the re-reads. I recommend it if you haven't.

My favorite Heilein title is 'A Door into Summer' that he got when his wife said about their pestering cat going in and outside, "He's looking for a door into summer." Hey, it ain't his best work, but that's me, always looking for that door into summer. Something I'm sure you can Grok too seeing how you like warm states. ;-)
