TV Campaign Asks Californians to Do Something About 'The State of Immigration'; Group Says Driver's Licenses and In-State Tuition for Illegals Provide Incentives for More Immigration

SANTA BARBARA, Calif., Oct. 13 /U.S. Newswire/ -- An advertising campaign recently launched on California television stations attributes many of California's problems, including over crowded schools, traffic gridlock and environmental destruction, to too many people as a result of mass immigration.
The commercial takes an unusual approach by employing a child spokesperson to emphasize the point that it's our kids and their kids who have to live with the policies we make or don't make today.
The commercial opens and a child begins innocently asking a number of questions about well-documented state problems. For example, one question asks, "If Californians are having fewer children, why are the schools so crowded?" Another asks, "If Californians are having fewer children, why are there so many cars?" The concluding question asks, "If Californians are having fewer children, where are all the people coming from?"
The primary point of the commercial is that virtually all of California's population growth over the past decade has been the result of a massive influx of immigrants and births to immigrants, not from internal growth. The campaign's facts are based on recent studies which noted that native-born Californians are leaving the state and immigrants and their subsequent births added more than 4 million people to California's population in just 10 years.
"Virtually all of California's problems today can be connected to the fact that we just have too many people and there is no end in sight to the population growth," said Diana Hull, Californians for Population Stability (CAPS) president. "Yet our state's elected officials continue on a destructive path of providing numerous incentives that encourage more immigration, including driver's licenses and in-state tuition for illegal aliens."

The campaign is being funded by Californians for Population Stabilization. CAPS is a non-profit organization dedicated to formulating and advancing policies and programs designed to stabilize the population of California at a level which will preserve a good quality of life for all Californians. And behind this mass immigration that is destroying California, (and our whole nation), is the politicians' lust for the vote, for power. Long gone is the politicians' desire for the well being of our land. The liberals cry over a dead tree or a rotting whale carcass while they allow millions upon millions of new immigrants each year to overcrowd our nation and bleed our taxpayers to death with self destructive welfare policies for them. America is being raped every which way but sideways, and the only voice I've ever heard crying out to try to stop it is that of Pat Buchanan. And we all know how he has been marginalized and stigmatized.
Read the book "Barbarians at the Gates", it's a real eye opener.

"emphasize the point that it's our kids and their kids who have to live with the policies we make or don't make today."
I've been here for 3 years and I'm beginning to wonder how to shake up the people here to reality that ULTRA TOLERANCE is KILLING California.
We can't change the situation without hurting anyone's self-esteem we will have to say enough is enough.

This ad should be modified and shown across the country. I still maintain that a lot of our unemployment and uninsured are do to the illegal problem. They are taking jobs that Americans want and they have little or no insurance.

It's a great idea, the only problem is they're not listening in Washington. At this very moment those who placed their hands on the Bible and swore to uphold the law are putting their thumbs to their noses at us.

Wow, that is good stuff. It is expensive to run those ads. Must be someone with bucks supporting it. I can't wait for the media to go into full screech, to villify whoever they can associate with this organization.

I still maintain that a lot of our unemployment and uninsured are do to the illegal problem Yes, illegal immigration AND excessive LEGAL immigration exacerbate both problems.
In the necessary fight against illegal immigration, we cannot forget how destructive our LEGAL immigration policies are. We import many more poor, unskilled people with limited earning power through legal immigration than through illegal immigration.

The RNC called, again, the other night asking for another contribution. I told the gal that instead of looking to me for a contribution I suggest that Bush, et al look to the immigrant community - both legal and illegal - for support as he has gotten the last dollar out of me. Didn't even phase her, went right on with the script about the chairman of the RNC, and on and on. Then I told her that I doubted that he would even get my vote, let the illegals vote for him as he seems to want their support more than mine.

Anyone opposed to Illegal Aliens should prepare to be smeared as intolerant, uncompassionate, anti-immigrant, and likely racists by... The Republican Party of President George W. Bush. 2004 GOP Campaign Slogan: "Shut up and Vote"

I doubt that seriously. Cite your source, please.

I noted the remarks in the article about illegal immigration, but it seems that these folks might also resent ALL immigration to CA, even from US citizens from other states. Am I reading too much into this?

Look at the census statistics.

They want to eliminate illegal immigration and reduce the level of legal immigration. There is nothing in the ad to suggest they have a problem with US citizens from other states moving to CA; such people are not immigrants, by definition.
