LOS ANGELES (AP) - The legislator who sponsored the bill allowing illegal immigrants to obtain California drivers licenses vowed to fight any effort by Gov.-elect Arnold Schwarzenegger to repeal the law. "The immigrants are not terrorists; we are workers, and this is why we have the right to live here with dignity and respect," state Sen. Gil Cedillo, D-Los Angeles, told a gathering at a Latino Heritage Month celebration Sunday on Hollywood Boulevard.

Supporters say the law will actually increase public safety by making sure immigrants are qualified to drive. I had no idea the roads become safer when 16 year olds are issued driver's licenses. I mean, they had to pass a driver's test, didn't they?

"The immigrants are not terrorists; we are workers, and this is why we have the right to live here with dignity and respect," Ummm, excuse me, but ILLEGAL -- let me spell that for you unless you had a private school education: "I-L-L-E-G-A-L" -- immigrants DO NOT have the RIGHT to live in the United States, nor to drive, vote, or otherwise take up space: they are breaking the law, a concept that apparently matters little to Democrats.

A lot of attention being given to Arnold "repealing" this law and almost none to the pending referendum. We, the people of California, will dump this law ourselves.
We only need 400,000 signatures. Please sign up to distribute petitions here:

If we need these illegals, ignoring the law is not the answer.A more efficient green card program ,perhaps, is.No one from another country deserves to live here without permission.

That's the rub, sir, illegal aliens don't have any such right.

If we need these illegals, ignoring the law is not the answer. From a purely "patriotic", America-first perspective, I think we should pick the best and brightest of those who wish to come here. I think that what is lost is the idea that each illegal immigrant is effectively one less legal immigrant that we can take.
America is the result of immigration. America is (was?) great because of the people who fled bad governments to live here in freedom. What is happening now is people who come here, bring their bad government ideas with them. Seeking our economic benefits, but not willing to accept the freedom (and responsibility) that made that economic strength possible.

FYI: Gil Cedillo was a big bug in the UCLA MEChA chapter in the nineteen seventies. He has never disavowed that particular racist cum fascist ideology.

....immigrants DO NOT have the RIGHT to live in the United States.... You are falling for the Liberal media's attempt to make "immigrant" the Politically Correct synonym for "illegal alien".
"Immigrants" have a right to live in the United States because "immigrants" are legal.
"Illegal aliens" have no right to live in the United States and therefore do not qualify for the time-honored term of "immigrant".

Aw, c'mon! Where's your American hospitality? Let's make 'em feel like they're at home, and treat them just as much like their own government does as we can.
Listo! Apunto! FUEGO!!!!
