It's a battle all right. A battle in the war to destroy American sovereignty.
Anyway, illegal aliens are not even supposed to be in the country, much less demand drivers licenses. There are thousands more in Mexico waiting to get here legally and these illegals jumped the immigration queue like the common criminals they are.
Why reward these queue jumpers with drivers licenses? That's like letting the guy who cut in front of you in the movie line have free admission into the cinema house.
Your vote, and thereby your portion of the American political process, doesn't mean anything more than that of a foreigner. Why should any of us listenm to anything anyone from Maryland has to say or believe they have the interests of their fellow Americans in their hearts, if many of them aren't even American citizens.
Now quit drilling holes in the bottom of the lifeboat, and help the rest of us bail out the water that's already gotten in.

Gutierrez is a Montgomery County Democrat. Figures...
Indeed. particularly if they have a van or pickup, and can load up most of your home furnishings some afternoon when you're not at home. And if you are, that oversight can be dealt with easily enough.
I suppose I just don't feel threatened by immigration. My grandmother tells me all the time about the distrust and lack of fairness in immigration when she immigrated as a girl.
You're presumably not from one of the locales where we've been promised each of our *new citizens* will repay our hospitality by killing ten Norteamericanos apiece:
"We have Nicaragua, soon we will have El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Costa Rica, and Mexico. One day, tomorrow or five years or fifteen years from now, we're going to take 5 to 10 million Mexicans and they are going into Dallas, into El Paso, into Houston, into New Mexico, into San Diego, and each one will have embedded in his mind the idea of killing ten Americans."Perhaps they'll find your grandmother first.--Thomas Borge, Nicaragua Interior Minister as quoted in the Washington Times, March 27, 1985
She drove a delivery truck at 11 years old to earn money for her family, and started her own business at 19 with a 7th grade education. She and my grandfather (who was a factory worker) worked hard to provide for their children to send them to college. Maybe I just feel that stories like that don't only apply to european immigrants.
Just so. It was hard for the Cubanos who fled Havana and Cuba for Miami and South Florida, hard for Vietnam's boat people, hard for the Laotian Hmong who settled around Missoula, Montana and in a San Franciso enclave.
But they opened the door for their kids born here, most of whom have become pretty good Americans. And most of whom are not about to see their own sometimes too-small portions of the American dream turned back into a part of Mexico.

That's where I became aware of this article, so thank you for doing that.
Reading this, I have become absolutely SICKENED by the level of sheer incompetence in our State government. I'd like to THINK it was incompetence and not out right TREASON, which one could easily argue! I don't believe these people! Where is their BRAIN? I think it's clear from the article that the debate in this state is not whether illegals SHOULD have liscences, but rather, does the MVA, in its practices, prevent only illegals from getting a license! I mean, good GOD, where did the debate about whether or not it's right to give an illegal a liscence in the FIRST place go?!?
I'll probably write a few letters when I get home, but: 1. It doesn't seem like the MVA is willing to fight this too hard, as they don't want to seem "politically incorrect and 2. Again, it doesn't seem that anyone is arguing for the REAL issue here, anymore, which is whether or not we should give them liscences in the FIRST place!
I am shocked, as I'm sure this post shows. I'm just SHOCKED......I really can't say any more than that!
