CBS National News ran a negative homeschooling report last night titled "The Dark Side of Homeschooling" and will run a further report this evening. The reports focus on a handful of child abuse cases during the past 5 to 10 years involving families claiming to be homeschoolers.Yet leaves out all the abuses of public school parents, as if they could do no wrong. I can imagine those all those horror stories.
Odds are, all the abuses you hear about everyday in the news are by public school parents, but they leave that part of of their reports, don't they?
BUMP.

Missing from the CBS story was that: Social Services had contacted the family eleven times, were well aware of the condition of the home and had been working with the family.Seems that this is really a horror story concerning the "Social Services" department...

I would like to see the percentage of abused homeschool kids vs. abused public school kids. I bet there is either a) no difference or b)public school kids get abused more, per capita.

These are families "claiming to be" home schoolers. It wasn't a cut at real homeschoolers, just the rotten parents who use that as an excuse not to get up in the morning and take care of the kids. Those types I oppose, and I'm sure we all do, no matter where we educate our kids.

According to the CBS News Website, additional feedback can be sent to
evening@cbsnews.com. I encourage you to share appropriate feedback with the producers at CBS. This type of poor journalism should not go unchallenged.
