Just flew this weekend. To speed up the process they simply announced everyone takes off their shoes, puts them and their carry-ons, belt, keys, anything metal into the basket and the line moved along very quickly.
Had two great flights, arrived on time, got to hug my kid, and flew home arriving 1/2 hr. early........yyyyyyyyaaaaaaaayyyyyy
