The Bums' Rush - and Mine
Jewish World Review ^ | Oct. 14, 2003 | Jimmie Walker

Posted on 10/16/2003 3:21:16 AM PDT by canuck_conservative

Rush Limbaugh, hired by ESPN to help ratings and spice up its Sunday Morning NFL Show, was, for all practical purposes, fired for stating the facts. He dared to say what others whispered: The reason Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Donovan McNabb was not getting scrutinized for bad play as much as he deserved, was because the NFL has a policy of wanting Black coaches and quarterbacks to be successful at all and any cost....

On target. I can't stand the Eagles but have found myself rooting for McNabb to do well. Why? I was hoping that more successful black QBs might break down racial barriers and encourage other young blacks to take that path. Guess that makes me a racist too. LOL.

Yes, and he was talk show host in my city a few years ago, during the impeachment era. He said Clinton would stay in office, and he was correct.

There were no "racial overtones" in what Rush said on-air. He was just reporting the facts — as troubling as they may be.

Rush wasn't reporting "facts"--he was giving his opinion. If Rush had backed up his opinion with facts (citing sports reporters and their commentary as proof) as he did on his radio show the week following the incident, he might not have gotten into as much hot water. But they were gunning for him, so it probably wouldn't have made much difference.

Imagine my pleasant surprise to read this missive from Jimmie Walker!

Black conservative ping

If you want on (or off) of my black conservative ping list, please let me know via FREEPmail. (And no, you don't have to be black to be on the list!)

Extra warning: this is a high-volume ping list.

[As i mentioned, the B/C & JD! lists are going to float into and out of whack over the forseeable future, while I try to cobble a rig back together for myself. My apologies for any incovenience or misunderstandings in this time frame. New signups/removals may be flaky in this time-frame as well; please bear with me, and keep in mind you may have to FReepmail me more than once for me to get it done. Thanks again!]

Dynomite! Way to go Walker and thanks for the ping. A friend stated that what Rush said was true, but it shouldn't have been Rush to say it. Just makes ESPN look really bad.

Thanks for posting this. It looks as though Jimmie Walker could be embarking on second career. There would be a huge demand for a conservative, Black, celebrity, political writer or spokesperson.

If Rush had backed up his opinion with facts

Remember he basically went unchallenged on this issue that day, and was more challenged as to how did the guy get the "Ring", and in the end all parties agreed on that issue...McNabb was a "good investment".

But you are right, it was an opinion and Rush presented it as such. Walker is the one calling it "fact".

Does Walker live in California? Maybe we can get him to run against Boxer.

Liberals always say that anyone who votes against one of tehir black candidates is a racist. If she found herself opposing Jimmie Walker, what would that make her by her own liberal standards?

I thought he only had a limited time to talk on that show, so I guess he didn't think about having to bring up specific incidents. Why didn't the other guys on the show ASK him about it? Were they so scared of the subject that they just didn't want to continue it? Kinda makes Rush's point doesn't it?
