(CNSNews.com) - Disney has agreed to let animal "rights" activists use images from its animated family film "Finding Nemo" to encourage children not to eat fish. People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) has obtained permission to use stills from the Disney/Pixar movie - which has taken in over $337 million at the box office - in its campaign to promote vegetarianism to youngsters. A "pro-fish" PETA spokesman told Ananova that the organization plans to use characters from the film in posters, leaflets and other materials. "We were delighted to see our tagline, 'Fish are friends not food,' in the movie" when a shark attended a support group for vegetarians, the spokesman said. "We hope that after seeing "Finding Nemo,'' children will agree that fish belong in the ocean, not on dinner plates."

Just when you think Eisner & Co. cannot get any lower he/they/it does. If and when I do go to the Orlando area again Disney will not be one of the places I will frequent.

The only reason fish are alive is to stay fresh 'til we're ready to eat 'em. :o)

That's irritating. They took a funny scene in a film for propaganda - forgetting that the point in the film was that fish EAT OTHER FISH!! PETA conveniently ignores that "food chain" thing.

Ooh, that salmon looks good! I had a delicious sea bass a restaurant a few weeks ago. I just don't know how they cooked it so perfectly!
I think taste still wins over ideology among younger children. If fish/meat tastes good, they'll eat it. A few might stop eating fish if they believe the PETA ad, but the "phase" won't last long for most kids.

My oldest son didn't eat much fish until I took him to Ivars in Seattle when he was 10. Won him over in one sitting (and several seagulls on the dock). Visiting Ivars is almost worth the drive if you live within, say, 1000 miles.
I love sea bass grilled. Hard to find up here in the desert, but there's salmon, and there just don't seem to be any leftovers in our home - the kids love it.

I wish everyone would quit bashing vegetarians. I am one but I am not a nut about it. I make exceptions, I still eat fish, beef, pork, fowl, lamb and wild game too - but only in season. Oh yeah, and barbecued goat on the 4th of July. Give us veggies a little break huh?
