Opposing Congressmen say so in the Congressional Record.
This is the "Big Lie" put to work as usual by the people who usually use the "Big Lie".
There has been so much lying about the Patriot Act. Politicians wanting votes and money, groups wanting money and power, media wanting to smear the ones they usually smear- it's been disgusting.

Nor has he ever read a bill he signed or even sponsered in it's entirety. Nor has any other member of congress. That is what staff is for, so the politicion can be about his real business, fund raising and reelection.

They were in a hurry, but to their credit, they were concerned about long-term abuse, and that is why the Patriot Act has a "sunset clause" which means it will pass out of existance in another 2 years or so (not sure about the exact expiration date).
