"Some will think this sounds ignorant but why doesn't the president order the Justice Dept. step in?"

Because he, like the rest of his family, is a coward. They are cowards one and all, finger to the wind, mostly concerned with "not offending".

The utter stupidity of trying to avoid offending your opponents -- even going so far as to offend your base in the process -- cost Pappa Bush his re-election, and it will cost Baby Bushie his re-election, and it will also ensure that Jebbie never darkens the door of the White House.

They are a despicable clan of gutless wonders. Lots of big talk, but no action. All show and no go.

"I see a fairly clear difference between dying and being killed. People in terminal conditions may want to be left alone to die. In some cases their relatives may decline resuscitation measures. Some examples are terminal cancer cases, severe strokes, or fatal injuries. Killing, on the other hand, means taking the life of someone who has even a small chance of recovery or remaining in a state of existence that is at least somewhat meaningful."

Bingo.

Withholding food and water is no more, "be[ing] left alone to die," than would be throwing someone off the roof, and then declaring that, "It was a natural death; gravity took its ultimate toll."

What a hateful, disgusting, vile human being mike is..

What a shame that he will still be able to eat, drink, and breathe.

Without becoming an expert on this story, I'd like to know simply; Is she or is she not in a coma?

No, she is not in a coma. Also, she is severely disabled but not dying. Watch the videos on terrisfight.org.

I like the Dickens quote. I'll probably think of Terri this year when A Christmas Carol comes around and Scrooge's line resounds.

Just heard on Neal Boortz that President Bush has instructed his legal team to try and intervene on Terri's behalf.

Boortz sounds pro-euthansia, which disappoints me terribly.

Light up those phone lines at the White House folks!!!

I am leaving my house now, so I will try to get back to read this post later tonight. I wanted to post my 12 year old daughter's comments.

She wanted me to turn the news off on Wednesday and I told her, "NO. I will not. Something big is taking place right now and we need to know about it". I explained to her the situation and her question was, "Isn't that murder?".

Now she has just asked me why criminals get to die painlessly.

Kids get it. The adults in this world are so evil and sick sometimes. This is all very upsetting.

What about putting some fire in John Ashcroft's office and other offices of the Justice Department?

I'm all over it. Thanks for the suggestion. Nice to be home today so I can do this. I feel less helpless and angry just doing something.

I think we need to hit the state of Florida in the pocket book. Let's boycot them! I will not travel to a state that will allow my death for convenience, passes laws that state that feeding tubes are life saving measures, and has judges that feel that only those you can feed themselves should live.
I'm sorry for those living in Florida.

Attorney General Remarks

October 8, 2003
Men Challenged to Take the Pledge Against Domestic Violence in Public Service Announcement

"Domestic violence is wrong and destroys the lives of far too many women and children. I’m challenging men across America to take the pledge against domestic violence. We must work together to eliminate the horrific cycle of violence. This public service announcement demonstrates the Bush Administration’s unceasing commitment to keep families safe, hold offenders accountable, and bring communities together in our ongoing efforts to end domestic violence."
John Ashcroft, U.S. Attorney General

OK, John. Let's see your commitment in action.

The LIBERALS are the evil ones. I bet that a lot of the ones that want to kill this innocent girl would fight tooth and nail to get a Death Row serial killer off the hook ...

To further bring into focus just what the authorities, from the judges on down, are ignoring in order to end Terri Schiavo's life I've put them into a bulleted list.

Micheal Schiavo's vested interests in Terri's death:

1. Avoidance of a near certain criminal investigation and possible prosecution arising from questions concerning the multiple fractures she seems to have acquired just prior to becoming mute and immobile.

2. Sole acquisition of funds secured for the rehabilitation and maintenence of Terri's life and health which can only be accomplished if he remains married to Terri.

3. Legal sanctification of his sexual relationship with another woman.

4. Emotional security of legally securing his relationship with that other woman by means of marriage.

Micheal Schiavo's actions:

1. Removal of Terri from a rehabilitative hospital setting to the purely maintenence oriented setting of a hospice facility.

2. Using his authority as her legal guardian to prohibit all efforts to rehabilitate her.

3. Using his authority as her legal guardian to limit or prohibit visitation by her family.

4. Calling his wife a "bitch" in the context of wondering why it was taking so long for her to die.

5. Use of the funds meant for Terri's care for his own needs.

Algore is still wishing his case for vote recounts had had half as much merit as these points make for terminating Micheal Schiavo's status as legal guardian much less considering his petitions to let her starve.

The weight of circumstantial evidence here is far more damning than the evidence used to execute Timothy McVeigh or prosecute Charles Manson and leads the rational mind to only one conclusion, (albeit a yet to be proved suspicion) it appears to be far more likely than not that Micheal Schiavo attempted to murder his wife causing substantial injuries that resulted in her current condition of mute immobility and he is now soliciting the help of the courts of the State of Florida to finish the job.

Regretfully (shamefully, despicably, dishonorably, criminally, immorally, horrifically, adjectiva nausea ad nauseam ...,) the Courts of Florida are willingly assisting him and no earthly authority in Florida or Washington has been able to find the legal right, the statute or the testes to oppose him.

The Corporate Media (as always in these times) has abdicated its responsibility to fully inform The People of this nation about this situation. A situation which has generated strong reactions from people wherever the whole story has managed to surface through means of less heralded forums of communication.

The will of The People is being played out in this case through the actions of unelected authorities, unwillful and illwillful representatives and by a misinforming media which is ignorantly percieved by too many to be performing some honest and reliable service to our country.

There is little left for the ordinary man/citizen to do but watch and unflinchingly witness what is happening. Watch it, acknowledge it and remember it. However painful the truth is it is always better than the lie. Never deny it, never excuse it, never forget it. Micheal may succeed in murdering Terri but the truth won't die if you give it a place to live.

Victory lies in truth and truth is a flame that needs shelter from the winds of fear and anger. Take the flame into your heart and mind and the lie with it. The flame of truth needs to be exposed to the lie to feed itself by burning it to pure ashes. You can't eliminate evil from the world but don't turn away or close your eyes to it because it is ugly. It will only use that as an opportunity to gain ground on you.

Good luck, Micheal Schiavo. You're gonna need it.

******************************************

If attempts to feed her and teach her to eat are blocked that is murder.

If drugs are used to mask her reactions to removal of food and water and the resultant starvation and dehydration that is accomplice to murder.

If friends, family, legal representatives and the press are blocked from witnessing her reactions to this denial of nutrition and hydration that is conspiracy to murder.

Hasn't former Governor and former Senator Ashcroft become one of the most disappointing "public servants" in memory? Can someone tell me what this man has done? I understand he will be around in a second term. I think he is better than Reno, but I can't remember the detais as to just how he is an improvement over the FL "madame."
