In devising a new diversity initiative that breaks with past policies to extend outreach to two new groups that include white men, the Justice Department rejected parts of an outside consultant's report on minority and women attorneys, a former top Justice official confirmed yesterday.
Former Deputy Attorney General Larry Thompson, who was in charge of the diversity initiative, said yesterday he didn't agree with aspects of the 186-page report on diversity among Justice attorneys turned in by KPMG Consulting and Taylor Fox Associates in June of last year.
