I haven't read the entire Koran.

I would be the last one to hold that against anyone. It's a tough read. Disjointed and repetitious enough to bring tears to your eyes. No textbook I ever read in college was as much of an effort to wade through.

I think that part of the whole "you need an Imam" BS is a cop-out that can be translated as, "I don't really get it, it's too hard to read, and I'd rather just let the guy with the beard tell me what it says."

Hizb militant, one villager killed in J-K Gun battle

Jammu, October 17: A top Hizbul-Mujahideen militant and a villager killed, and three others were injured in a fierce gun battle in Doda hills of Jammu and Kashmir on Friday, official sources said.

Army troops launched a search operation in Marm at high altitude mountains in Doda district to track down a group of Hizb militants active in the area for the past three months, the sources said in Jammu.

That and I think that in a lot of the Third World countries where Islam is dominant, many of the adherents are illiterate.
