CAMP ALLEN -- Around 20 suspected New People's Army (NPA) allegedly tortured to death a "helpless" soldier whose body was found days after he was abducted by the rebels, the Armed Forces North Luzon Command (Nolcom) claimed.
Lt. Col. Preme Monta, Nolcom information officer, said the body of Army Pvt. Marlon Laggui of the 45th Infantry Battalion was recovered by military rescuers in barangay Mingga, San Mariano, Isabela province.
Monta said Laggui died after sustaining multiple gunshot wounds. Autopsy reports revealed the soldier was also tortured before he was executed.
Reports reaching Nolcom headquarters said Laggui was on his way to purchase the troop's supplies and other provisions at San Mariano Public Market when he was allegedly accosted by around 20 rebels under Lourdes Bulan aka Simang.
Nolcom chief Romeo Dominguez was quoted as saying: "The NPAs are the number one human rights violators. What better word can you call these bandits who kill helpless people in an impulse?"
Lieutenant General Dominguez added Laggui was one of the many victims of human rights violations perpetrated by the underground movement, adding that NPA cadres suspected of being military informers are also being executed after being sentenced before a "revolutionary" court.
The 9,500-strong NPA rebels scattered in the entire archipelago have been waging a 34-year Maoist rebellion against the government. Peace talks between the rebels and the government were suspended in June 2001 following the assassination of two legislators.
Another soldier tortured to death by rebels
CAMP ALLEN--Another soldier was reportedly tortured to death by suspected New People's Army rebels in Cuyapo town, Nueva Ecija on October 18, barely two days after the summary execution of another government trooper also by suspected communist guerillas, the military said Tuesday.
Lt. Col. Preme Monta, information officer of the AFP North Luzon Command (Nolcom), said Sgt. Eulogio Campos of the 71st Infantry Battalion was attending to his farm, along with his wife, when three NPA rebels abducted him. His body was found the following day.
Monta said a farm helper told authorities that around 10:30 a.m. of Oct. 18, the slain soldier went to a nearby creek to catch shrimp using a net. He failed to return for lunch prompting his family to scour the area for his whereabouts.
The family of Campos later learned from the village folks that three men armed with high-powered firearms dragged an unconscious man that they could not identify. It turned out that Campos was indeed that helpless victim because the following day, his body was found dumped unceremoniously in an area within the barangay.
A rope was tied to his neck and his body bore multiple gunshot wounds and lacerations, which indicate he may have been tortured before he was killed.
The family revealed the rebels had been threatening Campos when he was still alive, and on several occasions attempted to talk to him but the soldier refused.
Two days prior to the incident, the body of another soldier-victim of NPA brutality identified as Private Marlon Laggui was recovered by elements of the 45th Infantry Battalion in Barangay Minanga, San Mariano, Isabela.
The victim was on his way to purchase supplies and other provisions at San Mariano Public Market when accosted by some 20 NPA rebels under Lourdes Bulan.
Laggui's body bore the brunt of barbaric and sadistic nature. Laggui had multiple gunshot wounds, blackened neck caused by heavy blow and abrasion on the chin.
Agree; and same reasoning applies to trying to appeal to the moral instincts of any Liberal. It is impossible; they do not have any moral instincts. They will never take a stand on 'high-ground'.
GW attempting to honor and offer respect to Ted Kennedy case in point; or just any dealing with our Liberal establishment; there is simply no low too low for these people and they dig deeper every day.
See little difference; save the weaponry, of our terrorist enemy and our Liberals here at home. They both share a common enemy.
